Lee Gratwick’s restoration of the old Linwood pool. Early spring and forty-four degrees when this was taken yesterday, but there was plenty of evidence of grooming in preparation for this year’s tree peony festival in LInwood, NY.

Some people from work played pool tonight. I'm not very good but not terrible.
This is Ingólfur shooting behind his back, he hit it well and buried the ball in the corner.
I was using the Sigma 30mm 1.4 at f/1.8, should perhaps have used a smaller aperture for more dof, but I like this version with the focus on the ball.
White balance was difficult since the light above the tables was different from the main light in the room. I used the main light, the tables are actually a bit more green.

My neighbors put this nasty kiddy pool out about a month ago and let it sit to rot. Other neighbors left this awesome note.

Hamilton Pool is a little known area in the TX Hill Country, where one can experience some truly spectacular landscapes. Swimming is allowed here in the summer and I imagine it would be an oasis-like experience.
I decided to have my Birthday Fun Day today instead of my actual birthday because I didn't want to be all hungover and tired on a Monday. I'm very responsible.
I'd tried for a while to come up with themes and plans and things for this birthday and I wound up just stressing myself out. Which is dumb. Once I decided to have a low key day with two of my local friends, the stress lifted and I felt good.
A movie, a dinner with drinks, and then rummy floaty time in the pool.
My friends decided to plan shenanigans.
A fun sombrero and inappropriate mustache during dinner. Decorations at the house. An awesome Oreo themed cake. A scavenger hunt! Muppet flip flops. A night away from home next weekend for relaxation. A surprise pop-in by a friend that serenaded me.
It was low key. It was stress free. And it was perfect and happy.
My hope is that everyone has at least one person in their life that is as kind and loving as the ones I have in mine. Everyone should be that lucky.
