Chem Pollux (Iles Marshall) L 139 X 22 -

The Temple of Castor and Pollux in the Roman Forum of Rome was erected in the final decade of the 1st century BCE, replacing the earlier temple to the twin sons of Jupiter which had stood on the site since 484 BCE. Today only the inner concrete core of the podium and three columns survive of this once massive structure.

Standing against the test of time, the Temple of Castor and Pollux is found in the Roman Forum. The temple was built in gratitude to the twins Castor and Pollux, who were the sons of Zeus and Leda. The twins aided the Romans at the Battle of Lake Regillus.

Castor and Pollux (which one here?) on horseback.

The Treasury, Petra, Jordan.

A couple of weeks ago, while Brandon and I were whiling away a quiet Sunday afternoon together, Brandon's niece Avery stopped by for a visit (along with her parents). We had a lovely time chatting, catching up and watching Avery play with the cats. Brandon snapped some fabulous shots of Avery throughout the course of the afternoon. At a moment when his arms were full of Pollux (see above), I grabbed his Nikon D80 to see what it could do! I like the look on Pollux the cat's face here, but I can't quite decipher it. Patience? Consternation? A general feeling that cats have all the answers? Your guess is as good as mine. (PS ~ Thanks to Brandon for assistance with decisions regarding cropping and color here.)
