Grand Canyon to Page, Arizona, East from Big Water, Utah on backcountry roads to Alstrom Point.
This is a stunning drive through a corner of Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument and some of the most epic scenery around. It can be mostly completed with a standard vehicle in dry conditions, but the final couple miles get significantly more dicey, over tenuously cairn-marked slickrock, and require high clearance.
I'm sure the local folks are used to places like this, but for someone not used to driving in these conditions, getting all the way out here felt like a legit accomplishment.
I'd had this place on my list for years. I was stoked we made it. A highlight of our whirlwind tour of the American Southwest.
I'm reliably informed this was a calm day at North Point.

Our Navajo guide (Bernard) said stand on the "x" and take the shot. Even though I have stood in this spot a number of years ago as have many others it was fun to frame up this classic shot in beautiful Monument Valley.
We found this really great view at Gamboa Point on Highway No 1. I loved the lonely palm trees at the upper beach. In the background you can see the bridge over the Big Creek Cove.

Suspended between the sky and the abyss, Dead Horse Point State Park overlooks the Colorado River like a balcony overlooking infinity. Here, the wind tells a bitter legend: that of the wild horses left trapped by cowboys on this rocky spit, destined to die of thirst while the water rushed mockingly hundreds of feet below.
Today, silence remains, immense and solemn, broken only by the ever-fiery colors that transform the valley into a living painting. A place where beauty is so powerful it leaves you speechless... and history so harsh it will never be forgotten.
Last light on Neist Point Lighthouse, Isle of Skye. Difficult to tell from this image but it was blowing a right hoolie, very hard to keep the camera still

The pointe Saint-Mathieu (Lok Mazé in Breton) is a headland located near Le Conquet in the territory of the commune of Plougonvelin in France, flanked by 20m high cliffs.
In this black and white shot we get the full range of things to see at Beauty Point. Enlarge the photo and look around.
On the right we have the AMC training facilities and two small training vessels. Between these you can see in the distance the Wyuna and the port at Bell Bay. In the foreground there is of course the yacht club, but behind that you will catch a glimpse of the wharf area and sheds, including Seahorse World.
And so that ends a very busy afternoon of work at Beauty Point and Beaconsfield.
Continuing my Brisbane Tourist Guide ;)
Kangaroo Point is located on a peninsula formed of harder rhyolite rock which the Brisbane River flows around. On the northern tip of the peninsula the Story Bridge connects it to the central business district and the suburb of Fortitude Valley.
The suburb of Woolloongabba is located to the south. The six-laned Main Street runs from Story Bridge to Woolloongabba. The landscape of Kangaroo Point is predominantly high rise apartments towards the tip of the peninsula while the other end is predominantly low-medium density apartments and houses.
Kangaroo Point is a popular recreation spot, conveniently close to the city and the South Bank Parklands. The Kangaroo Point Cliffs, situated on the east bank of the city bend of the Brisbane River north of the Maritime Museum, opposite the Brisbane River Stage and the Queensland University of Technology at Gardens Point.

The cliffs are a popular picnic, rock climbing and abseiling site. The steepness of the cliffs was increased by quarrying operations which mined the volcanic rock or rhyolite lava flows which form the cliffs. These lavas were deposited in the Tertiary period about 30 million years ago and filled up an ancient river valley. They currently form the banks of the Brisbane River.

Many years ago my grandpa asked me if I wanted to go on a photography trip with him, and if I could go someplace where would it be. I listed off a few places, and one of the places I listed was the Big Sandy and Clinchfield. I was always fond of the scenery and countryside that was in the surrounding area of the two subs, and always wanted to go out to take some pictures.
Well, life got busy, and kind of messy, so the trip never happened. Flash-forward to almost 5 years later, Im living in a new state, my grandpa passed away, and my friend said he was going to be in the area, so I took a couple days off of work, to go out and get some pictures with him.
Pool Point was a shot that I’ve seen done hundreds of times, and was hoping to at least get get a single picture there. Luck was on our side, and we were able to get a train over Pool Point.
G766 had traveled all night up the Clinchfield, with daylight just starting before he got to Pool Point. Quite happy with how it turned out. Thanks for reading this essay I’ve just written. Thank you Papa for getting me into the hobby, and encouraging me to follow what I wanted to do, wish you were here to see what I'm doing now. This one is for you Papa.
