Although we were not able to visit the Lighthouse due to it's not being open during our visit, we were able to see it from a distance. It was a foggy, cloudy morning. Typical coastal winter weather.

I went on a bucket list trip to California in 2024. While I was there, whale watching was also on my list. So we launched from Dana Point into the bay. While we didn't see any whales... we were graced with the presence of two huge pods of dolphins! A monumental moment in time.
Check out my California album for more images from that trip.

"Sunrise at Race Point Lighthouse"
Provincetown, MA
Race Point Light is a historic lighthouse on Cape Cod, in Provincetown, Massachusetts. It was first established in 1816, the third light on Cape Cod (after Highland Light (1797) and Chatham Light (1808)). The original light was a 25 feet (7.6 m) rubblestone tower that featured one of the earliest rotating beacons, which distinguished it from others on Cape Cod. In 1858 the light got a fourth order Fresnel lens and, in 1874, a second keeper's quarters. In 1875, after significant deterioration of the original tower, it was replaced with an iron tower lined with brick. The original keeper's house was rebuilt as part of the project. The station was electrified in 1957. The larger keeper's house was removed in 1960 and the other was updated.
The station has been restored by the Cape Cod Chapter of the American Lighthouse Foundation, and both the keeper's house and the whistle house are available for vacation rental.
Race Point Light was added to the National Register of Historic Places as Race Point Light Station on June 15, 1987, reference number 87001482.

Glacier Point located on the south wall of Yosemite Valley at an elevation of 7214 feet offers stunning views ranging from Yosemite Falls in the west to the Sierra crest in the east. It is one of the world’s most dramatic vistas. You can get a commanding view of Yosemite Valley, Half Dome, Yosemite Falls, and Yosemite’s high country from the Glacier Point overlook.
Both sunrise and sunset at Glacier Point can be spectacular. Sunsets can be particularly spectacular if there are clouds to add drama to the scene.
Glacier Point Road closes due to snow, usually from sometime in November through May or early June. This year Glacier Point Road opened on April 30th, and I was fortunate enough to be in Yosemite that weekend with my son and my wife to photograph the dogwood spring blooms.
I saw that there were clouds in the forecast during the afternoon that Sunday so I decided to drive up to Glacier Point late afternoon on Sunday to photograph the sunset.
An old shot at Telegraph Point on the shore of the Skeena River, in between Terrace and Prince Rupert, BC. It's at low tide and sunset, that this scenery can be done, but remember, we are in the rain forest country, and cloud and rain is on the menu each day.
Thanks for passing by guys!

After the government purchased an octagonal parcel at the tip of the point from Edward Hanson for a sum of $9,999, the present concrete fog signal building with attached, thirty-seven-foot octagonal tower was completed on April 29, 1913, and the station was activated a few weeks later on June 1.
The fourth-order Fresnel lens used in the tower was manufactured in Paris by L. Sautter and Lemonnier and contained multiple bull’s-eye panels. A clockwork mechanism, powered by a suspended 110-pound weight, was used to rotate the lens every ten seconds, producing a group of five white flashes followed by a five-second eclipse. The weight had to be wound up every five hours to keep the lens revolving.
Alki Point Lighthouse in 1947 with foghorns
To assist mariners in times of fog, two four-horsepower, oil engines were used to fill a tank of compressed air, which was then directed over a reed found in trumpets mounted on the north, east, and south walls of the lighthouse. The Daboll foghorns produced the following sound pattern: three-second blast, six seconds of silence, three-second blast, eighteen seconds of silence.
Two eight-room, frame dwellings were constructed for the keepers, and an oil house was built to store the kerosene the station’s fuel. The original light source used in the station’s Fresnel lens was an incandescent-oil-vapor lamp.

"Punta de los Reyes…. God help the hapless mariner who drifts upon her shores."
Probably the story behind this specific boat is much less dramatic but the coasts of Point Reyes are dangerous and filled with ship wrecks.
This fish boat got stranded in Inverness.
A well know photography topic under magnificent late afternoon skies.
I used all kinds of Lee stuff and the photo is almost the same as on the CF-card, so almost SOOC. Much better than yesterdays owl photo that had purple fringing around the branches.
Could've chosen for a 16:9 crop?!

"A much-photographed Tomales Bay icon, the derelict fishing boat the Point Reyes, was severely damaged by a mysterious fire early Monday morning, and comments from angry Inverness residents are burning up social media over the loss of this beloved local landmark."

It was a beautiful foggy morning on this 19th day of January, 2025, so we loaded up the truck and headed up towards Cavendish on Prince Edward Island. There are some nice hills, farms and even ports on the way and I imagined that many of these might look awesome in the fog. I wasn't disappointed. This was taken where HIghway 6 (Cavendish Road) crosses the Hope River, site of the Raspberry Point Oyster operation. While everything was closed up for the winter, the scene was quite amazing. I love fog!

Andalusia is located in southern Spain and covers an area of 8 provinces. Andalusia is the second largest autonomous region in Spain. Beautiful AndalucÃa, the land of olives, oranges, sunflowers, beautiful mountain ranges and valleys, nice white mountain villages with beautiful squares, is a bridge between two continents, Africa and Europe, and is the point where the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea meet. There is something for everyone in Andalusia, from culture to beautiful terraces, sights, long beaches, beautiful inland areas with beautiful reservoirs, mountains and nice villages to visit. Málaga is second-most populous city of Andalusia. Known to many as the capital of the Costa del Sol, Málaga is more than a seaside city. Málaga's history spans about 2,800 years, making it one of the oldest cities in Europe. It was founded about 770 BC by the Phoenicians as Malaka. The archaeological remains and monuments from the Phoenician, Roman, Arabic and Christian eras make the historic center of the city an "open museum", displaying its history of nearly 3,000 years. The Cathedral of Málaga is located within the limits defined by a now missing portion of the medieval Moorish walls. The Cathedral is a Roman Catholic church in its Renaissance architectural tradition. It was constructed between 1528 and 1782. The façade, unlike the rest of the building, is in Baroque style. The tower is 84 metres high. A series of grand artworks fills the sanctuary, among them are the Gothic altarpiece of the Chapel of Santa Barbara and the 16th century tombs of the Chapel of San Francisco.
Málaga is one of the oldest cities in Spain and hallmarks of its rich past are scattered across Malaga: the cobbled streets of the old quarter, its mountainside Roman Amphitheatre, the Moorish citadels of the Alcazaba and Gilfarbaro. And even once the sight-seeing is done, there’s still a city full of rooftop bars, gleaming boutique stores and nearby beaches to explore. Cathedral of Málaga built between 1528 and 1782, the construction was never completed. Due to a lack of money, a second tower has never been built and that gives it a special, asymmetrical appearance. For this reason, it is popularly called "La Manquita"; the one-armed lady. Inside, the cathedral has three naves, two magnificent 17th century organs, and contains impressive mahogany and cedar wood choir stalls that houses 40 carved wooden statues of saints. It's without hesitation the most important monument of the city. Its different towers, its magnificient facade and its legacy makes it a master piece on its own.
