Yosemite National Park, California. Viewed from Tioga Road, this location is in the high country of Yosemite north of the Valley. Half Dome appears in the distant above the trees not far from the right edge of this photo. Scanned from a Kodachrome slide.
Thank you very much for your views, faves and comments!
I went on a bucket list trip to California in 2024. While I was there, whale watching was also on my list. So we launched from Dana Point into the bay. While we didn't see any whales... we were graced with the presence of two huge pods of dolphins! A monumental moment in time.
Check out my California album for more images from that trip.

The interior of Fort Point echoes with history and emptiness now, but is open to visitors and photographers like our group of Flickr friends who prowled the rooms and passageways last Saturday, sizing up the photo ops and trying out various ideas or POVs. I didn't mind practicing with my tripod here, for some reason. Usually I prefer to keep moving, but this is a place to take your time and consider the light, the angles, and most of all the character of the scene.

Tacking Point Lighthouse is Australia's third oldest lighthouse. It was built on a rocky headland about 8 kilometres south of Port Macquarie in 1879, to a design by Colonial Architect James Barnet.
Tacking Point was named by explorer Matthew Flinders in 1802 during his circumnavigation of Australia.
Lizard Point is located at the southern tip of the Lizard Peninsula, and is the most southerly point on mainland Great Britain.
Spurn Point is a 4.8km long sand spit, sometimes an island, and in places only 50m wide, which forms the edge of the River Humber estuary in East Yorkshire with the North Sea on the other side. For me, it has a special story as my wife's first husband, a TV film cameraman, died tragically there, with another man, in a horrific helicopter accident in the Humber. My trip to Spurn was almost exactly forty years after that accident and I did want to produce one image which would show something of the harsh environment and uncompromising character of the place. These groins have felt the power of the wind and waves that the harsh monochrome treatment is intended to emphasise.

A portrait telephoto view of the landscape version below. Not sure which one I prefer, so I kept them both.

Rhych point Porthcawl. I made the trip to have a look at Ogmore but when I visited in the afternoon the sun was in the wrong place so I went across ot Porthcawl to grab some lunch. While there this tower caught my eye.
This is taken with my new Voigtlander 20mm, so I've spent some time trying to decern some difference from my previous lens & therefore justify spending even more money on photography toys. I have to say I'm quite please with the sharpness of the lens.
