This is a screen capture from an episode of "Kolchak: The Night Stalker," the cult tv series from 1974. I've always wondered what kind of camera it was that Kolchak used for this show. It couldn't have been very good for newspaper usage, as it was such a tiny camera. But, with this capture, I can see it looks be made out of metal, so it's probably not a cheap model. It appears to have a glass lens, too, so it's probably one of the better subminiature cameras made in that era.

If anybody recognizes who made this camera and what model it is, I would sure like to know! That's Darren McGavin as Kolchak, by the way.

Update: I now know this camera is a Rollei 16. It was a subminiature 16mm camera and the flash is a matched unit.

This is the "Jiffy Kodak V.P." It is a bakelite, compact, folding camera made by Koda from 1935 to 1942. The letters "V.P." in the camera's model name stands for "Vest Pocket" When the Jiffy Kodak V.P. debuted in 1935, it retailed for about $5.00 USD.

This camera is just one of the many cameras that were designed by the American industrial engineer Walter Dorwin Teague. In designing the V.P., Teauge took advantage of the 127 format's smaller film size to design a much sleeker and compact pocket folding camera than earlier models, such as the Jiffy Six-20 Series

The camera features a fixed focus doublet lens, with an everset shutter with "Instant" and "B" settings. There is a slider that allows the user to select the aperture size, either "large" or "small". The camera also features two shutter release leavers, one on the short edge of the lensboard and the other on the lower, long edge for landscapes or portraits, along with a folding "brace" for standing the camera on a flat surface. The camera will produce eight 6x4.5cm frames on a standard roll of 127 rollfilm.

There were even different lens attachments available for the Kodak V.P., including a close-up lens attachment which allowed the photographer to take pictures 3 1/2 feet (1.06m) from the subject, and a "Diffusion Portrait Attachment", which was similar but gave a soft-focus effect.

With the XA it is easy to shoot so near the end of the roll that it can be difficult not to cut a frame when cutting the film off the spool.

Practicing music in the church sanctuary on this sunny evening in March 2012 was so peaceful and beautiful. The golden hour sunlight streaming through the stained glass was breathtaking. Combine that with wonderful music in an acoustically pleasing sanctuary and you have an awesome evening of worship and fellowship with friends.

This Kodak Ektralite 10 pocket camera uses 110 film and has a built-in flash. I don't think the flash unit will work anymore as the battery terminals were quite corroded. But, the shutter seems to fire correctly.

Check my Graffiti-set too

I made this picture in 1986 with a pocketcamera. The negatives are scanned recently, these two photos are stitched in PS.

This was Amsterdams hall-of-fame in the early years of Dutch graffiti, an enclosed pedestrian tunnelsystem under a large roundabout, with a tramline across it.

It is a piece made by "High", a famous graffitiwriter 25 years ago.

I have these glass bottles my family brought home from one of their trips. In the sunlight they have this beautiful glow. I figured they’d be the perfect subject to test out this new camera on.

I picked up the Instax Pal 2 to have a tiny pocket camera on me at all times that I can use to capture the little things in my daily life. So far, it’s been fun! Especially experimenting with the fun built in filters. I’m getting images that are pretty different than what I’d normally take, but I like them!
