Clever plastic bar plugs with a smooth glossy finish. These "house brand" plugs were sold through Ron Kitching's British bicycle goods outlets and mail order catalogues. The mechanism is very similar to the expander cones found on many quill stems. The slotted sides of the plugs hold the tabs molded on the cones and the ends widen as the bolt is tightened to wedge these into the handlebar. This "Astro" model was produced continuously for many years, and they were available in a varety of bright colors as well as black or white.
