Wannes Missotten's and Torri Nickmans' plug.2 is an intriguing hybrid installation in which audiovisual threads form a scattered but dense loop carpet. At the vernissage (10 February), the installation will host an obstructive performance by the sound-duo Kire Noisemachine.
This spark plug gapping tool is about 35 years old and it works quite easily. The resulting gap is perfectly parallel between the electrodes. A spark plug can be gapped in just a couple seconds.
In use, the spark plug is drawn upwards with the "feeler gauge" set between the electrodes. The upward pressure against the "anvil" adjusts the softer side (ground) electrode to assure a perfect gap.
St Paul is a volcanic plug which rises over the settlement of Whangaroa. Day five on our trip up north, March 2012, Northland, NZ
Whangaroa is a locality on the harbour of the same name in Northland, New Zealand.
Whangaroa is 8km north-west from Kaeo and 45km north from Okaihau. The harbour is almost landlocked and is popular both as a fishing spot in its own right and as a base for deep-sea fishing.
The harbour was the scene of one of the most notorious incidents in early New Zealand history, the Boyd massacre. In December 1809 almost all the crew and 70 passengers were killed as utu (revenge) for the mistreatment of the son of a local chief who had been in the crew of the ship. Several days later the ship was burnt out after gunpowder was accidentally ignited. Relics of the Boyd are now in a local museum.
In June 1823 Wesleydale, the first Wesleyan mission in New Zealand, was established at Whangaroa. In February 1827, the famous Ngā Puhi chief Hongi Hika was engaged in warfare against the tribes of Whangaroa. Acting contrary to the orders of Hongi Hika some of his warriors plundered and burnt the Wesleyan mission. The missionaries, Rev. Mr Turner and his wife and three children, together with Rev. Messrs, Hobbs and Stack, and Mr Wade and wife, were 'compelled to flee from Whangarooa (sic) for their lives'. They were conveyed by ship to Sydney, NSW.
During a skirmish Hongi Hika was shot in the chest by one of his warriors. On 6th March 1828 Hongi Hika died at Whangaroa.
With electricity being generated by our PV roof panels, we can direct some of that energy to power an automobile. We currently generate more power that we use. The credits are rolled over for one year, and any remaining is absorbed by Hawaiian Electric. This plug-in hybrid will allow us to use a portion of those credits to power the car, rather that forfeit those credits to the power company.

I use this 100 ft cord for my lawn mower. It's a real pain to wind up. Next time I use it, I'm going to try this cool way of storing it: Youtube- No tangle extension cord storage: www.youtube.com/watch?v=eaEv9wm6gy0

Hey there flickr friends -- I've been "unplugged" for quite awhile, now, mostly just busy with work, doing a little bit of traveling, and (sorry to say) hardly any picture taking. But I'm looking forward to getting back into the swing of things.
KLG were the initials of their inventor, Kenelm Lee Guinness (1887-1937), a member of the Guinness brewing family and a director of that company. He was born in Dublin and died in London at age 49. He enlisted in the Royal Navy for service in World War One but was asked to resign since his work with spark plugs was considered to be more valuable to the war effort. He sold world distribution rights to Smiths in 1919. He held a land speed record in 1922 and made the spark plugs for Henry Segrave's Sunbeam 1000 HP Mystery which was the first car to exceed 200 mph.
Once everthing was assembled it then came time to plug it into the amp.
With heart pounding anticipation I switched on the amp and was greeted with the most awful screaming noise. It took me hours to work out that the problem was the metal braided wire which was casuing the current to jump about all over place.
So I had to get a whole load of new wire and rewire the whole thing again. This time however, when I plugged it in and turned the amp on everything sounded superb.
I opted for a single coil pickup at the neck and a humbucker at the bridge and I am pleased with the range of sounds the guitar produces. The single coil produces a nice clean tone and the humbucker is there for a more raspier sound.
