Olive loves sports!

On the sands of Marina, there were a few players practicing Heading movements for their upcoming football match. There was a lively coach in the scene too.

This is one such person who was caught during his flight to head a ball thrown towards him.

A Quidditch match is played by two teams made up of seven players. There are three Chasers, two Beaters, one Keeper, and one Seeker. Chasers keep possession of the quaffle and try to score a point by throwing it through one of three hoops on the opposing team's side

At the Tilty Flower festival in Tilty, Essex, one of the stands had a vintage record player: for a few pence you could chose one of a number of old 78rpm records to be played while you were visiting the stands.

A bass player, or bassist, is a musician who plays a bass instrument such as a double bass, bass guitar, keyboard bass or a low brass instrument such as a tuba or sousaphone. Different musical genres tend to be associated with one or more of these instruments. Since the 1960s, the electric bass is the standard bass instrument for rock and roll, jazz fusion, heavy metal, country, reggae and pop music. The double bass is the standard bass instrument for classical music, bluegrass, rockabilly, and most genres of jazz. Low brass instruments such as the tuba or sousaphone are the standard bass instrument in Dixieland and New Orleans-style jazz bands.

Despite the associations of different bass instruments with certain genres, there are exceptions. Some 1990s and 2000s rock and pop bands use a double bass, such as both Andrew Jackson Jihad, Barenaked Ladies; Indie band The Decemberists; and punk rock/psychobilly groups such as The Living End, Nekromantix, The Horrorpops, and Tiger Army. Some fusion jazz groups use a lightweight, stripped-down electric upright bass rather than a double bass. Some composers of modern art music use the electric bass in a chamber music setting. Some jazz big bands use electric bass. Some fusion, R&B and house music groups use synth bass or keyboard bass rather than electric bass. Some Dixieland bands use double bass or electric bass instead of a tuba. In some jazz groups and jam bands, the basslines are played by a Hammond organ player, who uses the bass pedal keyboard or the lower manual for the low notes.

This 1950's era record player was my Christmas present from my wife this year (and the John Mellencamp album was a Christmas present from my sister in 1985).

After spending the day in Washington Square Park, we headed down 6 th avenue to get on the subway and walked past the West 4 th Street Basketball courts. He was one of the players, taking a break. A real character, sense of humour, good natured.

The player piano is displayed inside at Rock City Park.

not really, lol.

Found these in my garden today, hanging 'in the air' on my trellis.

From the previous year I knew they were baby spider - searched the internet and that's the information I've found:

Towards high summer and the beginning of autumn, small egg-sized clumps of tiny spiders can be found on webs in the garden and. If disturbed these erupt into a cascading mass of tiny yellow spiders with a black spot on the rear end. These are quite harmless baby Garden Spiders.

In late summer or early autumn many spiders mature mate and produce eggs. The common Garden Spider (Araneus diadematus) lays from three to eight hundred yellow eggs that she cements together and covers in a dense layer of coarse protective yellow silk and detritus. When spring comes the following year, bundles of tiny yellow spiderlings with a black spot on their rear end can be found. If disturbed, the bundle of babies will 'explode', with individual spiderlings dispersing away from each other on tiny silken safety lines. Once the danger has passed they climb back up the web and form a clump again. Before emerging from their egg sac, the spiderlings moulted once. Once emerged, they remain together until they have moulted yet again and grown big enough to be independent.

Not sure if I identified them correctly - so any suggestions are more than welcomed.

When the alarm goes off at 4.15 you wonder if it's going to be worth it. What's the location going to be like? What's the light going to be like? Will there be nothing but flat grey clouds?

Sometimes it is absolutely worth it ....
