Platforms for Empowering Entrepreneurs and Small Business
If the best solution to poverty is a job, capital to create that job is key. Having seen the success of microfinancing and investments in scaling small-to-midsize enterprises/SMEs worldwide, what are the latest practices in fostering entrepreneurial eco-systems and creating a pipeline to funding where it is needed most? From capital and technology to speed to market, what tools are needed to successfully launch startups and scale them on a path to sustainable prosperity? This discussion will examine the causal connection between expanding investment in entrepreneurism and creating global stability where the need is greatest.

The old Armitage platforms stopped right on the south side of Armitage Avenue, where the brown railing stops. The platforms were lengthened south of the station. The brick wall next to the platform is new but the building itself is not--part of the building was torn down to accomodate the wider platforms but the rest was saved and capped off.
Old English railway stations have a real charm and Bristol Temple Meads is a personal favourite. I have very fond memories of passing through here. I love the way the original building fabric sits with dignity as new technology is introduced -- the lighted sign and the ticket barriers. A case of "long life, loose fit?"
This is not a good photograph because I was in too much of a hurry, but for me it still captures some of the atmosphere.

Two empty shop spaces on Hackney Downs, Platform 1, will be turned into an Artist’s project studio and a reading room, dedicated to displaying and selling Artists' publications, ephemera and art works. It will be run by an artist, who aims to bring critical art practice into the public realm of daily commuter travel, framing The poetics of public space and offering a place for artist’s visibility outside of the normal Gallery environment.
London Transport Museum - somewhat ridiculously - banned DSLRs from the Aldwych station tour, so these photos were taken with my old Fujifilm bridge camera.
