My favorite pilot, the one and only Dr. Mike Lanzetta. This guy is actually pretty photogenic...
Ok, ok, I confess. I haven't actually flown with Mike, and he's not really so photogenic. I'm just saying that hoping he'll let me hitch a ride in his airplane someday... ;)

16 days, 4,035 miles, 9 states....quite a wild ride! A great deal of catching up to do here...
Pilot and Index Peaks are pictured here. These two lovely peaks are located in the far Northeast corner of Yellowstone National Park but were photographed from outside the park along the Beartooth Scenic Byway.
Pilot Peak, part of the Absaroka Range, is ~11,700 feet above sea level.
The map location is the estimated location the photo was taken from...sadly, my GPS receiver did NOT record time with the coordinates recorded...should be fun trying to match stuff up.

I was drooling over Russell Stutler's collection of the Legendary Pilot Murex and particularly fond of the 1973 black striped MYU. Amazing technology ahead of its time, launched in the same year I was born in 1971. My budget only allowed me to get the 90th anniversary limited 9000pcs edition. It was launched last year but Pilot Hong Kong didn't carry this pen until recently, so here it is.
You can learn a lot more from Pilot's M90 site and The Fountain Pen Network in addition to Russell's site, so I'm not repeating anything here. I just love the minimalist design of the original and its pocket size when the cap is closed.

Y164 the usual Newport Workshops pilot is joined by Y112 wearing its original number of Y419. The Y class (419) is captured heading to drop the fire after shunting various pieces of rollingstock around the yard. Both locomotives had returned earlier in the day from the annual Ballarat Heritage Weekend shuttles. Y112 turns 125 years old in July 2014 and a planned trip is scheduled to operate to Traralgon which will see the locomotive running as Y419. 12th May 2014.
Fire Fighters from the Inland Empire and all over SoCal battle a large 8,000 + acre Brush Fire that started in the Bernardino National Forest and made its way into the Summit Valley area of San Bernardino County.
