My dad, who would be about 102, had a lot of lightmeters. I guess he had as much trouble with them as I do. Some of them are very confusing and give wrong answers. This photo is exposed according to the numbers on the lightmeter. So I guess it works pretty well even after 40 or 50 years.

A pilot boat transports pilots between land and the inbound or outbound ships that they are piloting .

If a ship is coming into the port for the first time, the pilot will board the ship at the sea-buoy. The sea-buoy is the ‘official’ start to the river / sea . The river /sea pilot resides in the port of call . So the pilot boards the pilot boat, leaves the dock, and heads out to the sea buoy to meet the ship. Now if the ship is leaving the port, just reverse that process. The pilot will board the ship at the dock, take the ship out to the sea-buoy, and climb off the ship and board the ‘PILOT’ boat and take the boat back to the dock.

The pilot boat here is dropping the pilot on to the RYNDAM , to guide the cruise

Captain Quentin Horatio is piloting a Navigator class Turbine Sail, although primarily a short range reconnaissance vehicle it can be launched directly from one of the Queen's Zeppelins to check out enemy targets or clear landing zones of enemy personnel with it's two wing mounted guns.

Morning and dark, with clouds and even rain. But I drove closer to get such a shot.

If I could have made it nearer to Pilot Butte, I would have used the 90mm. It's a more pleasing lens, I think. But the 210mm at this distance made the formation seem closer than it was.

Or really, as close as it actually was. This is a fairly realistic vision of where I was.

Due to time I couldn't get closer.

A friendly wave from the door of the Fulmar. This is one of the Briggs Marine pilot launches and is seen here working on the Mersey returning to Liverpool with the pilot of a vessel that has just crossed the bar outbound.

BTH Type 1 - Class 15 - (D)8234 in 'the Yard' at Liverpool Street station, in about 1970.

The loco retained its green livery until it was withdrawn and scrapped, in 1971. One example of the class has survived.

The station was extensively rebuilt in the mid/late 1980s, and today (2022) the middle tracks here have gone, and the platform tracks (9 and 10) are next to each other, and this area is subterranean..

G-Suit model for Canadian Inventions display. Wilbur Franks developed the modern G-suit at the University of Toronto which helps fighter pilots combat acceleration forces during maneuvers.

This was a quick model for the series of inventions. I tried to use sand green pieces to give the characteristic flight suit colour. It's the first time I've ever built a Miniland scale figure. The G-force cockpit dial was put in after as many people thought the figure was a deep sea diver.

Finally got a new photo set-up, hope it looks a bit better. As you all know, I am no photographer, but I try.

I know it's not perfect but I did my best, the helmet was a true pain in the ass, it might not look like it but it was extremely hard to sculpt.

A manifest freight is coming down Silver Zone Pass. The Pilot Valley in the backdrop is looking like a frozen body of water.

I am standing near the upper tracks looking down. Some ten minutes before the train went past me and took the Arnold Loop before emerging in my view again way down below.
