Pilot Knob State Park - Iowa
Hiking the "Heartland" yesterday before the big winds and cold front! Autumn will now change to a more stark appearance due to 35 to 45 mph wind gusts last night and today!
I enjoy autumn colors so much, and start to "pout" like a four year old when I know it's coming to an end! :(

Walking along the "ridge" on Pilot Hill, the highest point in Hampshire, there is a wonderful view of the Hampshire/Berkshire border stretching for miles if the weather is right. This day there were bright blue skies but it was rather hazy.

L’eau est à la source du pays. Le quotidien de la majorité des Cambodgiens en dépend. La fête qui lui est consacrée chaque année témoigne du caractère sacré qu’on lui accorde. La mousson tropicale, le puissant Mékong, mais avant tout le gigantisme du lac Tonlé Sap rythment la vie du pays. La crue annuelle du Mékong multiplie la superficie du Tonle Sap par six. La pêche bien évidemment mais aussi l’agriculture sont favorisées par cette ressource abondante.
Les populations ont appris à s’adapter à ce milieu exceptionnellement foisonnant en développant un mode de vie au contact de la nature. Les Khmers mais aussi de nombreuses minorités ont fait le choix de construire leur habitat sur ces eaux prolifiques. Il peut prendre la forme de maisons littéralement flottantes posé[e]s sur pilotis. Généralement de style très modeste, ces maisons font partie intégrante de véritables villages sur l’eau. On y trouve des écoles, des commerces mais aussi des lieux de culte insolites. C’est toute une société avec ses codes propres qui s‘y est développée dans une atmosphère au charme singulier.

The Messerschmitt Bf 109, often called Me 109, was a German World War II fighter aircraft designed by Willy Messerschmitt and Robert Lusser during the early to mid-1930s.
It was one of the first truly modern fighters of the era, including such features as all-metal monocoque construction, a closed canopy, a retractable landing gear, and was powered by a liquid-cooled, inverted-V12 aero engine.
The Bf 109 first saw operational service during the Spanish Civil War and was still in service at the dawn of the jet age at the end of World War II, during which time it was the backbone of the Luftwaffe's fighter force.
From the end of 1941 the Bf 109 was supplemented by the Focke-Wulf Fw 190.
Originally conceived as an interceptor, later models were developed to fulfill multiple tasks, serving as bomber escort, fighter-bomber, day-, night-, all-weather fighter, ground-attack aircraft, and as reconnaissance aircraft. It was supplied to and operated by several states during World War II, and served with several countries for many years after the war. The Bf 109 was the most produced fighter aircraft in history, with a total of 33,984 units produced from 1936 up to April 1945.
The Bf 109 was flown by the three top-scoring German fighter aces of World War II, who claimed 928 victories among them while flying with Jagdgeschwader 52, mainly on the Eastern Front, as well as by Hans-Joachim Marseille, the highest scoring German ace in the North African Campaign.
It was also flown by several other aces from Germany's allies, notably Finn Ilmari Juutilainen, the highest scoring non-German ace, and pilots from Italy, Romania, Croatia, Bulgaria and Hungary. Through constant development, the Bf 109 remained competitive with the latest Allied fighter aircraft until the end of the war.
Despite appearances this has only ever failed one MOT, and that was on a bulb. 80,000 miles at the last MOT and I'm guessing one of the very last Pilots. Ex Post Office obviously.
