I thought this tiny dragonfly was a wasp at first. Seen on our hedge this AM. First shot with the new camera, Sony A-350. Cropped and adjusted levels a tad.
This is a flowering vine in my garden...It lives it's life in a large planter as it comes in when the temps start going down below 50. This past winter it actually grew & clung to the window screen & kept on growing...it even had one flower this past winter. Please VIEW LARGE to see just how incredible this flower is...
I offen see or step on the dried out seed balls of local trees, I am not sure if they are just from Maples or other varieties.. Love the texture.

Kenroku-en (Six Attributes Garden), located in Kanazawa, Ishikawa, Japan, is an old private garden. Along with Kairaku-en and Kōraku-en, Kenroku-en is one of the Three Great Gardens of Japan. The grounds are open year-round except for December 29th through January 3rd during daylight hours and famous for its beauty in all seasons; an admission fee is charged.

Start em young... The Kuching Amateur Swimming Association (KASA) has successfully organized the Kasa 2010 swimming meet for schools. Kasa had mapped out strategies to bring swimming and aquatic activities in Sarawak to greater heights.

The glistening orange-red-green throat patch (scarlet red in sunlight) attracts females. This guy was looking up at a female when I snapped this shot. Cool, or what?
My last garden images before surgery. There has been more rain in May for this year, while it is getting old, the results can be enjoyed.
The most difficult time... but here are the results.. Leaning the Nikon on a tree to grab this shot... Had to take advantage of the low full moon. Not as sharp as I'd like, but next month.. I'll try again w/a tripod, bigger lens, and 2 hands...
If the full moon tonight looks unusually large, it is not your imagination – it is the biggest and brightest full moon to be seen for 15 years.
Each month the Moon makes a full orbit around the Earth in a slightly oval-shaped path, and tonight it will swing by the Earth at its closest distance, or perigee. It will pass by 356,613km (221,595 miles) away, which is about 28,000km closer than average.
The unusual feature of tonight is that the perigee also coincides with a full moon, which will make it appear 14 per cent bigger and some 30 per cent brighter than most full moons this year.
The next closest encounter with a full moon this large will not be until November 14, 2016.
