Another shot of a Harris hawk from cluny clays. I was out hunting with these birds and was amazed at the speed they hunt down their prey it is quite incredible.
Explore #381, July 13, 2009. This is an image of one of my antique postcards, mailed in 1910. It shows a Hopi woman doing the hair of an unmarried girl. According to the card, the large hair whorls represent squash blossoms, the Hopi sign for purity. Taken with my Canon A590 IS, and spruced up in Picasa.

I was drawn to this flower because the petals seem almost iridescent.
I went to the Stevens-Coolidge Place in N Andover Massachusetts today. It's a public garden and historic house.
From the official website:
'Formerly known as Ashdale Farm, the Stevens-Coolidge Place was the summer home of John Gardner Coolidge and Helen Stevens Coolidge from 1914 to 1962. Mr. Coolidge, a descendant of Thomas Jefferson and nephew of Isabella Stewart Gardner, was a diplomat. Helen Coolidge devoted herself to preserving and improving Ashdale Farm, which her family had first acquired in 1729 and subsequently farmed for six generations. With her husband's support, she transformed the farm into an elegant agricultural estate that exemplified the gracious country living enjoyed then by wealthy Bostonians.'

A hummingbird moth keeps a vigilant eye on the camera as it momentarily sucks nectar. These nimble, furry little creatures flit rapidly from flower to flower, so I use the technique of setting up the camera on a tripod, focusing on a flower. . . and waiting. Re-focus was on the eye. Nikon D300; ƒ9; 1/640 sec. Taken 23/07/08; 11:02:23. My garden in Oradour Fanais, France. View On Black View LARGE

Master of disguise...Many caterpillars are cryptically coloured and resemble the plants on which they feed and may even have parts that mimic plant parts such as thorns. Their size varies from as little as 1 mm to about 75 millimetres (3.0 in). Some look like objects in the environment such as bird droppings.

Thank you friends for the visit. Hope I don't bore you with this, If you look at this picture and the last picture closely you will notice the baby is a copy of the mother, the body posture epically the trunk looks very similar. Shows how much the babies in the wild learn from their mothers, if the baby loose the mother at a young age it may never be a confident adult and may not raise kids of its own well. So if somebody ever offers you body parts of wild animal or shows of them never accept it nor pay money cause that greedy individual may have killed a entire family or more.
A word of thanks to my flickr friends for your comments, fave and awards. Have a great week !!!
