Se ubican a 90 kilĆ³metros de San Pedro. Miscanti y MiƱique ubicadas a mĆ”s de 4.000 metros sobre el nivel del mar, ambas son alimentadas por fuentes de agua que vienen desde la superficie de la tierra, atraen un gran conjunto de animales, como la abundancia de flamencos, un severo contraste rodeado de cuestas nevadas y brillantemente reflejadas en sus aguas. El viaje desde San Pedro pasa por Toconao y bordea el Salar de Atacama.
Estas lagunas altiplĆ”nicas son uno de los 7 sectores que conforman la Reserva Nacional Los Flamencos. Se ubican a 18 kilĆ³metros al sur de Socaire. El paisaje se caracteriza por los volcanes y relieve montaƱoso, destacĆ”ndose los cerros Miscanti y MiƱiques. En las lagunas habitan especies como: tagua cornuda, flamenco chileno, parina chica, caitĆ³, playero de baird, chorlo de la puna, pato juarjual y la guallata. La flora esta compuesta principalmente por la llareta y la paja brava. En los sectores aledaƱos existen sitios arqueolĆ³gicos.
Day 12 of rain today in Sydney. It has been school holidays for this time, so the children have been going stir crazy inside - poor parents lol. It is supposed to fine up early next week when they are due back at school. The rain did stop for the odd occasion today and I managed to wander around to my neighbour's garden and take some photos - I am sooo happy lol. This is taken with my 28-70 mm lens and the 20 mm macro extension tube. Best viewed Large.
viervlek libelle ~ Libellula quadrimaculata.
Four-spotted Chaser .
De ontwikkeling van de libel verloopt vanaf eitje via larve tot volwassen insect met vleugels (imago). Libellen ondergaan via een serie van negen tot zestien vervellingen een onvolledige gedaanteverwisseling, niet een volledige metamorfose zoals vlinders, hoewel de verschilen tussen de laatste larvale fase en het volwassen insect zeer aanzienlijk zijn. In warmere streken verloopt de ontwikkeling van larve tot imago sneller. (Bij een onvolledige gedaantewisseling worden de onvolwassen dieren meestal 'nimfen' genoemd, bij libellen is echter 'larf' of 'larve' de in zwang zijnde term.)
Deze libelle is net uit zijn kokon ( zie foto hier onder) en "hangt" hier te drogen voordat hij uit kan vliegen.

Perhaps the autumn is now at an end. This morning reveals a layer of overnight snow.
