“Macro Mondays” "Pick Two" Yello Flower

A Cuckoo Wasp emerging from another wasp's nest on the wall of our holiday cottage at Cowan Head.

The Macro Mondays theme for this week is "Pick Two" There are two lists of words. List A (adjectives) and List B (nouns). Photo is a "Metallic" "Brush"

Mellow Yellow bottle-cap drowning in our local "Ottakringer" brew - recently awarded European Gold Medals.

Taken with a special version of the well-known and highly regarded SMC Pentax-M 50mm f:1.7 lens, mounted on a helicoid extension-tube, with the camera on a 3-way head and focusing-rack, just to make things easier!

Within the optical system the lens has been fitted with a concentrically-bored metal disc, and was one of a pair used for stereo photography - so it would be something of a half-truth to claim that it's unique! Anyway, that's what creates the unusual bokeh.

The bottle-cap is resting on a very mundane and well-used pot-scrub, and lit-up with Manfrotto LEDs fitted with yellow filters to achieve the bubbly beery gold effect.

I picked Yellow and Paper

I'm still working out my technique, but the idea is to create a series of oil sheen abstracts. In this case, the 'oil' is really clear nail polish on a two inch water puddle.

"The Meisterstück Solitaire Blue Hour LeGrand introduces itself as a precious, blue lacquered Solitaire product with platinum-coated fittings. The magical hour between daylight and night - the Blue Hour - creates a smooth contrast and breathtaking mood, which served as design inspiration. The hexagon pattern on the barrel and cap reflects the refraction of lights and night traffic in urban cities." montblanc.com

"Head Jog 08 Straw Brush (Raspberry) is an environmentally-friendly brush which massages the scalp and can be used to detangle wet or dry hair. Manufactured from polymerised, renewable biomass material, such as straw, rice husk and plastic, in a process with zero carbon emission, it has an ergonomic, loop design with double curve which provides flexibility and fits perfectly to the scalp. Flexible soft pin bristles massage the scalp, are kinder to the hair, and minimise breakage."

Frankly, I purchased this product on the strength of the name. For the first time in 25 years we have two bathrooms and I needed a brush in each one. It looks really cool hanging on the wall but it is a little wimpy for detangling. It does feel nice stroking against my elderly scalp.
