In the United States, 3/14 is Pi Day. To celebrate, my grocery store had pie by the slice as well as whole pies.
No, it’s not an exploding pie, but the explosion in the water did create a somewhat spherical shape. And pi is all about circular shapes. So, if you want to know the volume of water displaced at this moment in time then pi is part of the equation.
Info about Pi Day can be found at the Wikipedia link.
Actually the highway is right there yonder, just past the horizon.
A couple of days behind schedule. This one was intended for Monday, “Pi Day”, but what with this, that and the other, I kinda forgot about the whole thing.
Location: About 13km (8mi) from where I live.
Bonus trivia: In Norwegian, “pi” (π) is pronounced “pee”.

Today's We're Here Challenge: Pi Day
The big news of the day is that Darek gave me a haircut. Rayette is still sick. Happy Pi Day!
March 14, 2018-Happy Pi Day! People make this look so easy lol I thought oh I'll just add some more numbers and make it look like it was part of the photo....HAHA...well I had to start somewhere.
Our American friends celebrate Pi Day on March the 14th (3.14) as they write the date month/day. Pretty much the rest of the world write the date day/month. So we celebrate Pi Day on the 22nd of July (22/7) as three and one seventh is a close approximation to the value of Pi.
And for those of you unenlightened miscreants and ne'er-do-wells who refuse to conform: No Pi For You!
Max will be so proud of me!
Blueberry pie. Let me tell you about it.
Graham cracker crust that's been in the cupboard a bit, lonely and unwanted. Blueberries from last summer's picking that I sorta forgot about in the freezer. Sugar - no problem - cornstarch (flour for you Brits) and a bit of salt plus some lemon juice. I did NOT have to go to the store for any of it. Oh, the Pi symbol? Crushed Trefoil Girl Scout Cookie. Super easy. Key: not going to the store. Oh, supposed to be served with whipped cream. But why if you happen to have some vanilla ice cream from last week's shop? Oh, and I found this guy hanging around the house to hold it for me.
Happy Pi Day, all!
And please, STAY HEALTHY!
Something to do with the ratio between the crust and the filling, isn't it?
For International π Week - if you use inferior American date notation (and who, in the civilised world, does that?), today is 3.14. Pi Day.
It's also Albert Einstein's 130th birthday today.
Hooray! Explored!
A year ago today I had a mushroom pi.
March 14 is "Pi Day".
This postcard was purchased at the Exploratorium in San Francisco on Pi Day, March 14, 2015 (3.1415...).

I'm thinking this may be chocolate silk pie, but it does look to have hints of Key Lime and maybe even Strawberry
We had a nice clear view of the Total Lunar Eclipse here in Maine early in the morning of March 14, 2025, AK "Pi Day".
This image was taken with my T7i Canon camera and (wounded) 150-600mm Tamron lens. [The lens suffered a bad fall and no longer fully communicates with the camera, but the file info gives 1/5 sec exp, ISO 6400, f/8. Except for cropping and Logo addition, there is no editing]

Here's a toast to the irrational number pi on its day -- 3/14, the first three digits of the never-ending, non-repeating decimal expansion of pi. Why is it irrational? Because that's what the Greeks called numbers that can't be expressed as a fraction a/b, where a is an integer and b is a non-zero integer.
7/22 is close, but no cigar. 7/22 rounds off to 3.14, so it's a decent rule of thumb approximation, but it starts to diverge from pi three places to the right of the decimal, and seven places out, it starts repeating, which pi never does. Still, it's close enough that July 22 is another pi day of sorts.
One way to celebrate Pi Day is with a pi-ku, a short poem with 3 syllables in first line, 1 in the second and 4 in the third. Here's my stab at one:
Pi is real
but
irrational.
Per our annual tradition, we baked a few pies for π Day again this year. The way π Day fell, I wasn't around to bake with the kids before they needed to go to bed, so my wife made the apple pie in the middle, which headed into school with the kids this morning for their teachers. I got in from a late meeting, and made the maple pecan pie on the left and the Nutella pie on the right to bring in to the office.
No time at all to set up lights or anything for a quick shot this morning before heading in to school/the office, so I just whisked them out into the early morning light on the front porch and shot in the natural light there.

PI Day 2015 is a special date time that corresponds to the infinite number PI and 1st 7-9 digits.
This only happens once a century. The next time this will happen is 2115.
The browser site had the clock running in real-time and I was able to screen capture it at the proper second at 9:26 pm..

For the watch shot, my digital representation of the year was in the wrong place, so I shot it differently.
