It's March the 14th.. also known as the day of celebration for the superstar of math.. Pi!! 😃
I had planned on doing something outside with friends for Pi-Day.. and taking some pics of that. But everyone is self-quarantining themselves and so am I.. just to be safe.
Hope you're still all having a great weekend and that you're safe and healthy! ❤
I had a better idea to celebrate today but I was busy. I am planning to save that idea for next year. 😊
Where else can you find me?
For those of you that write your dates out MDY, (only a handful of countries, USA bring one), March 14 is 3.14, which of course is Pi. We just had Mario day too, Mar 10, sigh!
All magic is done by mirrors, sometimes smoke and mirrors, but always mirrors.
Just some silliness. I only recently discovered that 3.14 reversed in a mirror (with an appropriate font) spells "Pie". so I ended up playing with it a bit, but didn't really get what I was trying to do. Sharing anyway. Thanks to Etre1691 for lending me her magic mirror.
Steve had a haircut that afternoon, but he still managed to make us an apple pie (and ice cream) to celebrate Pi Day.
On March 14:
Math fresh graduate: Let's celebrate by eating my handmade pi pie.
Math professor (sternly): Let's prove the pi-theorem first.
Steve made an apple pie for Pi Day again this year. He could use some practice with the top crust—he probably put the filling in too hot—but it was still delicious and enjoyed by all.

The gods of cooking hate me. This has been made clear over years of unfortunate cooking mishaps. This latest one started out with coconut -- since it's a lemonade pie, I figured some nice yellow coconut would be a good garnish. Unfortunately yellow food coloring turned the coconut orange making it look like I had garnished lemonade pie with grated carrot. The second, and larger issue was that when we went to cut the pie, it turned out that instead of pie, I had somehow made pie soup. The filling was completely liquid (you could pour it into a glass and drink it). I had to freeze the pie overnight and quick take the above picture before it melted again.
Sigh.
But Happy (belated) pi day anyway!
Take Aim: pie or pie or anything round
Before I head out for the weekend I just wanted to wish all the lovers of math and dessert a Happy Pi/Pie day!
I worked at home today because of the snow. I usually find it harder to get motivated when I work from home. I mean, I don't even have to get out of my pajamas when I work from home! My daughter stopped at the grocery store on the way home from her job and I asked her to pick up a pie for me, but the bakery was sold out because of Pi Day. So I had her grab a frozen one and I baked it while we ate dinner, then had to wait to shoot until it was done and cooled down. My preference for my shot would have been something colorful like blueberry or cherry, but my son only wanted apple and since he would be the only person eating it that's what I went with.
Today's shot is for The Hereios' theme, Pi Day.

Happy Pi Day!
Pi Day 2025--3-14! I celebrated by visiting Fred the Butcher's in Clifton Park, New York, USA. They get pie deliveries from 2 different area bakeries each week. I purchased 2 minis (4-slice)--peach & cherry. Yummy! I considered having pizza (pie) & quiche, too (same shape), but decided that was overkill! LOL
At 3am we walked home as the moon moved out of totality. The quiet was broken by birdsong and was a sweet echo of the geese honking wildly when the moon disappeared. It was a poetic reminder that this is reality… regardless of the asshats in DC….can they tariff Bird song? The Canadian Geese’ migration? They can try…they might! In the end nature always wins. Their game is a bit like speed chess at present… terrible winners and losers who cheat because no one holds them accountable. With no shame or honor they will shoot themselves in the foot and then try to change the rules to their advantage. Frank Zappa fortold this long ago… Don’t eat the yellow snow!
Happy Pi Day

Since we were staying home for Pi Day this year, there was no going out to buy pies. Plus, the pie shop in Fremont where I got them the last couple years closed last fall anyway, so Steve made us a pie instead, using apples and some wild blueberries that he found in our freezer. He also made cinnamon ice cream to go with it.
In keeping with family tradition, the kids and I baked pies for Pi Day tomorrow. The kids each made an apple pie, one decorated with a π symbol and the other circumscribed with the first 30-ish digits of π. Those will be going in to school for their teachers tomorrow. I baked the four pies pictured here: maple pecan, sweet potato, Nutella, and blueberry (front-to-back). These will head in to my office, where not only is it π Day, but it’s also my 11th anniversary (at a company with “Math” right there in the name.)

How many of you noticed this old broken wagon in the last posting of the barn? It is in the upper right of the photo.
Exchange Place is a living 1850's farm. It originally served a relay station along the Old Stage Road and as the Post Office for what was then known as Eden's Ridge. Here they could "exchange" their horses for fresh ones, hence the name of Exchange Place.
Today the 62 acre farm is run by mostly volunteers. Crops that are grown today are the same as the ones grown during the 1800's. There are 6 log houses and 4 timberframes. We were given a personal tour by one of their very friendly staff members. There was no fee, only donations.
This is a well kept farm and well worth your visit if you are in the area. The people that run this farm are very friendly and take a genuine interest in it. Information from the following site
As a hereio of the We're Here! group I have chosen the European Pi Day group for today's visit.
Our American cousins write the date (somewhat illogically) Month/Day/Year and so believe Pi Day to be March the fourteenth (3.14) In Europe (and most other places) the date is written Day/Month/Year so for us Pi Day is the twenty-second of July (22/7).
Let's celebrate with pictures of pies.
i was going to have british characters eating meatpies. but then i realized it's only pi day in the US way of writing the date...
Hardly my best work ever, but it’s getting late and I need to do something to celebrate Pi Day (14th of March... 3.14) to satisfy my inner geek.

Happy PI Day! March 14 (3.14) is the day Math Nerds and other lovers of numbers find an excuse to eat PIE in celebration of this magical number.
