First quick trip out for 2019 and went out with something completely different in mind. I wasn't able to get the shot I wanted (due to many reasons, including misjudging the tide and the poor weather), but fortunately I didn't come back empty-handed. On the way back to the car, I spotted this structure in the water and thought I would give it a go. Nothing special, but I do like the overall feeling of the image

Another in my series of "Once in a Blue Moon" portraits. This customer had the first 100 digits of Pi tattooed up his arm and shoulder. For those curious I only saw the first 73 of them, though he did offer to remove his shirt right there in the store. We really do have one of the most interesting, and coolest, customer bases. Now too bad I cannot remember which camera I was shooting that day. Think this was the Leica M3...

yesterday I opened the mail to find a wonderful package from our good friend Christel, it was a real bright spot in an otherwise cloudy week! She sent me this lovely necklace as well as a reusable shopping bag which folds into a tiny purse!
International Pi Day is a chance for math enthusiasts (like She Who Must Be Obeyed) to celebrate the number pi - represented by its first three digits of 3.14. Many use the day to discuss the number, recite its infinite digits and eat plenty of Pie. It is celebrated on the same day every year - March 14, which this year is on Saturday. Happy Pi Day! March 14 ( 3.14). Any excuse to eat some yummy pie.

Actually this is a metal mooring on a floating wharf for barges and narrowboats on the canal. But catching a burst of evening sunlight coming through the tree canopy overheard, it lit up, and I thought it looked like a little sculpture of the mathematical symbol Pi, so zoomed in for a shot.
Pi can't wait to show you the stupid thing I did ... I told her we'd post pictures of it tomorrow.
