We were expected to take our photograms to the next level by utilizing various design elements to actually compose an image.
* chemigrams, one illustrated on top with tracing paper and white pen (top),
* photograms created with a long paper stencil and then turned into a narrative (bottom)
This is my photogram. The number on the enlarger was 16. I changed it to the number 8. I set my timer on 10 seconds. The top left corner is a turtle. The one on the right hand side is a bow and the one in the middle is a keyring.
Photogram, Inverted and tinted. That CD was microwaved for a few seconds, that is how you get the ray pattern.
In this picture I am experimenting and developing the photograms by using differents methods to develop a picture.
Photograms are made many different ways, this one was done by placing different objects (Tic Tacs, a necklace, macaroni, Froot Loops) onto a sheet of photo paper and exposing it for 8 seconds and then developing the print.

4a) In this project, we had to make photograms by using light sensitive paper and exposing it to light with things on top of it. To produce interesting prints, we had to make a creative display of items on top of the paper so that when exposed, certain areas of the paper were not. We had to create a theme for two of our photos and we had to demonstrate elements and principles of art in our other photos.
4b) This project takes place on the dark room when you expose light sensitive photo paper to light. The enlarger (machine that exposes the paper to light) is set to a certain time that exposes your paper to light for the perfect amount of time. My enlarger exposed the picture for two seconds. After the light shuts off, you develop the picture in certain chemicals and watch the image appear.
4c) For my project I chose to experiment with coffee grounds and water. I really liked the way that the water produced a really interesting value and the coffee grounds made a really cool, almost glittery, effect on my photos. I chose to make all my photos relatively similar because I really found that my techniques worked.
5a) The most challenging part about this project was to think where to start. I new i wanted to do something unique but it took a while for me to actually decide what I wanted my theme to be as well as the elements and principles of art to be.
5b) I am really proud of my finished products in general. I worked really hard to set them up and it is very satisfying knowing that they came out how i pictured them to be.
5c) I think that my work really demonstrates how I have grown as a photographer. If I were to do this project a year or two ago, I think you would see a lack of creativity. I'm happy with the way my ideas have grown.
5d) My work relates to my inspiration because I really planned out these photos similarly to the way all the photos i'm inspired by are very set up and planned. I think that if you plan something well, it will come out better and that's what I did.
5e) I think that I did a good job incorporating the elements and principles of art into my photos. It really showed that I was able to comprehend the assignment and that says a lot about me as a learner. Although I did struggle coming up with an idea in the beginning.
