Grrrr. I am just getting into my summer holidays and it pours with rain. Spend the day at Mum's. Lie on her bed and watch 'Due Date'.

Okay, I may have been casting around for any old photo subject on this particular evening, but also: I hadn't expected boots with a zip to work as well as they do. I mean, I've worn them long enough that I'm at risk of wearing the soles out, and I thought the zip would have gotten loose or worn or something already, but nope, the zips are fine.

Day 365 -

Daddy's swolen face after sitting in the sun too long, silly boy!

Sorry, more house pictures. We got home late last night after a dog walking adventure to find that our house is very open plan now.

Out on a site visit for work.

Get an early start on our trip to Hamilton. It's a grey, gloomy and misty drive but we make it there in plenty of time. Attend Rob's classes with him - it's a fun blast from the past and the campus is so much prettier than Victoria's.

Georgie has abandoned me for a few nights and I come home to this. No treats on my bed - shocking!

I spent a day living the life of a digital nomad, working in public spaces around Bournemouth.

I started off in Coffee Republic because I'd heard they offered free wifi.

Technically yes, they provide free wifi... for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes you have to pay. Sod that. So I worked offline for a while with my laptop plugged in to get as charged up as possible before moving off to my favourite place to sit (other than Room 2 of the Marlins Hotel, which has totally become a home away from home) in Bournemouth - the cafe at the top of Dingles/House of Fraser. Yes, it's not at all cool and is usually full of old folks, but that's part of its charm, along with the incredible view which just seems to inspire me every time I spend time there.

There was no wifi there, but I was in the working offline groove and got quite a lot done before the sun got too bright to be able to work effectively and it was time to move on to my third location of the day.

Sixty Million Postcards is the kind of pub I wish was my local. It's got a great atmosphere and lots of great events organised.

I got there, got inside, got into the groove and then, before I knew it, it was time to head back home to London.

I'm going back to Bournemouth for a couple more days this week, possibly for the last time, so I'll be making the most of these places and when I'm back in London after my holiday, I'll be looking for places locally that give the same kind of feel (albeit without the sea view) because I really am coming to realise that it's much better for me when I get out and about.

Kari makes like forty posters a day like it ain't no thing. Is it talent? You bet. Is it ALSO magic? She'll never tell. But I will. No, it's all talent.

Now that Fraggle (old slow tortoise) is out of hibernation, joining Hermann II (speedy, junior tortoise) who refused to hibernate this winter, we decided we'd change their living arrangements. They now have 'run' (walk?) of the greenhouse which gets warm quickly, plus a nice section of the garden. The fences and shelters are all moveable so there will be plenty of changing around to hopefully not ruin the grass too much.

I have new wellies - I bought them on ebay and they arrived today. As you can see, Colin doesn't approve (although they do match his jumper!).
