Oh no you don't! Caught this Paper wasp starting a new nest underneath my washing-line.
Here's a better macro photo (that I didn't take).
Now, according to the Schmidt Sting Pain Index, the Paper wasp's sting scores a high 3.0 on the scale, and he describes the sting as "Caustic & burning. Distinctly bitter aftertaste. Like spilling a beaker of hydrochloric acid on a paper cut" - eish, best I stay away.

Sennelager is a military training area on the northern side of the Teutoburgerwald near Paderborn. Like most Army Training Areas, Sennelager is cold and wet in the winter and hot and dusty in the summer. It was hated by the Kaiser's army and Hitler's ! The 20 000 acres of land required for the Sennelager Ranges was purchased early in 1892 and the first units arrived that summer. The men were accommodated in tents and the officers in huts. Permanent buildings were begun in 1893. Kaiser Wilhelm III led a large scale cavalry exercise here in 1895, and to mark this event the Kaiserstein was set up. He visited the Ranges again 10 years later. This time the public were invited and special trains were laid on from Paderborn to supplement the electric tram service. In World War I a number of camps on the training area became POW camps. After the war, the reduction of troops permitted Staumuhle Camp to be used as a holiday camp for children from the industrial areas, and between 1925 and 1927 some 6 500 children stayed here. The Normandy Barracks swimming pool was opened in 1928. With the build-up of troops in the early thirties the Camp Laundry was moved to its present location from the Castle at Schloss Neuhaus in 1936. The Range land at Schlangen, Hastenbeck and Hovelsenne was compulsorily purchased about this time and the barracks at Augustdorf were built. During World War II, in addition to the normal training, the camps were again used to house POWs and to restore battered units to fitness for return to the front. When the Allies arrived in 1945, most buildings, except the ammunition depot, were almost intact, but food and stores had been looted. The British took over the administration and have retained it to the present day, developing the area further to meet the requirements of modern training whilst, as far as possible, preserving the natural beauty of the countryside.

Charles Caledon Egerton was born on 17 November 1886. He was the son of Field Marshal Sir Charles Comyn Egerton and Anna Wellwood Hill. He married Madaleine Clayton, daughter of Edward Miles Clayton, on 28 December 1914. He died on 18 April 1915 at age 28, killed in action.
He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches twice. He gained the rank of Staff Captain in the service of the 13th Brigade, British Expeditionary Force. He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the service of the West Riding Regiment.

Allgäu Orient Rallye
Ziel der Allgäu-Orient-Rallye ist es mit möglichst wenig Budget viele Eindrücke der besuchten Länder zu sammeln und am Ende das befahrene Fahrzeug einem Spendenzweck im Zielland zuzuführen. Dort erwartet die Sandmänner, als Siegerteam, ein waschechtes Kamel. Die Sandmänner werden dieses Kamel an einen einheimischen Sandmann - Beduinen und seiner Sandmannfamilie weitergeben, wodurch eine gute Lebensgrundlage geschaffen wird.
Am 3. Mai 2014 fällt zum neunten Mal der Startschuss und es geht los von Oberstaufen über den Balkan, Istanbul, Anatolien, Nord-Zypern, Israel bis nach Jordanien. Das Team Sandmänner wird mit der Startnummer 34 starten und bei einer der letzten automobilen Abenteuer in unseren Breitengraden dabei sein.
Ziel und Idee der Rallye ist es humanitäre Hilfe mit Abenteuer und Spaß an Young- und Oldtimern zu verbinden. Die Fahrzeuge bleiben im Zielland und werden dort versteigert. Mit den Erlösen dieses Verkaufes werden Hilfsprojekte finanziert. Aufgrund der schwierigen Flüchtlingssituation in den an Syrien angrenzenden Ländern, hielten die Sandmänner eine Sachspende in dieser Form für sehr sinnvoll und hilfreich. Bei den Fahrzeugen der Sandmänner handelt es sich um einen Magirus Deutz Feuerwehr-LKW. Das zweite Fahrzeug ist ein schöner alter Mercedes W124T. Das letzte Auto ist ein VW LT - ebenfalls ein altes Einsatzfahrzeug der Feuerwehr.
Die Sandmänner sind motiviert, technisch versiert, voller Kontaktfreude und Abenteuerlust und sind heiß auf Sand, Sonne und erhitzten Asphalt.

Shot one of my top 3 favorite bands last night. Lamb of God. It was a pain in the butt... unless I had a band member escort me into the photopit I couldn't get into the barricade. Mind you, Chris Adler (photographed here) is the one that personally approved and gave me the photopass! What a bunch of BS. Anyway, the vip ticket, photopass.. and other ticket at least got me on the floor so I could stand right behind the barricade.
I stood with my gear and faced the masses to catch a few great photos. It was rough conditions but I still had some fun. I'll be honest I truly love seeing LOG in a smaller place not an arena, but I forever love covering their shows.. listening to their stuff (their CDs are on repeat a lot around here).. and I loved noticing I was the only one around me that had any idea of the words to any of the songs minus the two really famous songs (of late).
I'm in photopost for the next few days.. I also photographed Metallica. This will be one of the last shows photographed on my old gear *(sniffle*) but what a way to go out!
