MUCH Better Seen Here...

Get Pushed 32

Richard, www.flickr.com/photos/92883864@N02/ , new to Flickr, but a very accomplished photographer whose work can also be seen on: www.geofflawrence.com/photopost//showgallery.php/cat/500/... , gave me quite an interesting push: to do a macro but in such a way that there would also be a reflection of the macro (!!). I suppose there are many ways of accomplishing this...the weather was quite stormy in Nîmes where I'm spending the weekend, but I did manage to find some wild flowers and a pheasant feather...and then use the mirrored surface of a bowl to get the reflection and take these shots. The biggest challenge was trying to deal with the imperfections of the bowl at the macro level, and so off to photoshop I went. I found that the shots taken outdoors which also reflected the sky and the wall of a building nearby added unexpected dimensions and lessened the appearance of the bowl's scratches.

Well, Richard, I hope you like the results, and that I have come close to what you were expecting in this challenge! Thank you!

The more one gardens, the more one learns. And the more one learns, the more one realizes how little one knows.

Vita Sackville-West

Our port-of-call on the Art Journal Caravan this month is Great Britain. If there is one place I would most like to visit if I ever get to England it is the garden at Sissinghurst that was created by Vita Sackville-West.

Created for Art Journal Caravan.

You might remember In-V from my last photo set of them, and the fact they are the band I'm having my first in print article about in Amps 11. Last night they were at my favorite stomping ground The Evening Muse. Gave them a holler and I was on the guestlist , went out and enjoyed. Tonight I'm tagging along with the guys to the battle of the bands and shooting the show as well. So nice they asked me to do that, they like my photographs and make me feel appreciated in what I'm doing!

They are really nice guys, talented, funny, charismatic and just DOPE.

You can see their quirky personalities here LOL. More to come but I'll be in photopost for a while.

I know I know....it's all wrong...wrong time of day, it's backlit, a little overexposed. But I was there with the Hexar RF and I thought I would try and make the best of it...

I went downtown in search of some nocturnal subjects, suitable for my Rangefinder, fast lens, and Fuji 1600 ISO film...

Came across this fellow and his two friends who were trying thier hand at street musicanship. After speaking to them for awhile, I realized what a "different place" these young fellows are in life, than I am.

They have time.

Lot's of time.

Time is a precious gift my friends, don't let it waste.
