Knowing others is intelligence;
knowing yourself is true wisdom.
Mastering others is strength;
mastering yourself is true power.
If you realize that you have enough,
you are truly rich.
If you stay in the center
and embrace death with your whole heart,
you will endure forever.
- Lao Tzu [Tao Te Ching]
I spotted the Google Street View car driving along in Arlington Virginia, and snapped a quick picture earlier this summer.
The 'magic' of a 1966 Rangefinder camera. Maybe we all should make cameras and let the glass 'cure' for fourty three years before we use them?

You can reach me by railway, you can reach me by trailway
You can reach me on an airplane, you can reach me with your mind
You can reach me by caravan, cross the desert like an Arab man
I don't care how you get here, just get here if you can

+ sorry, maybe this text on photo thing has become an addiction.
can't help but destroy a photo with words. =/
Taken with a 'new to me' Canon GIII QL17 rangefinder camera that I bought at the local thrift for $30.00 and replaced the light seals for another $10.00.
It's marvelously sharp and fast 40mm f1.7 lens is a remarkable bargain. Add it's Quick Load (QL) system, light weight and accurate 'shutter speed prefered' exposure automation, and it's easy to see why Canon sold 1.2 million copies of this camera during the late 60's and all though the 70's.
"Will Dazzle fit in at her new school, get along with her new stepmother, and go on a date with the boy of her dreams without getting caught? Find out on DAZZLE, starring Dominique. Catch the one-hour series premiere on Friday @ 8/7c on Dingolodeon, followed by an all-new episode of Off The Hook!"
"This photo was really inspired by print ads of shows like Charmed and Moesha. I really wanted a vintage feel for this print ad to match the show's 90s setting."
I wish to start my 2009 photoposting with this one masterpiece of the Arab-Norman architecture. Was built on 1185 by Sicilian, Arab and Norman workmanships. It is an other clear example of the Vitruvio's lesson, the great architect of the Roman Imperor Caesar Augustus. Was built in the place where there was the main Mosque of Palermo, after the Arab domination which ended on 1036. On 1797 the dome was added to the structure by the architect Fuga'. A tragic mistake ?? The dome is of very different style (baroque) and it is not connected to the structure of the church at all. Dedicated to all who love Sicily and Palermo. Welcome back Tilak Haria.
Men profess to be lovers of music,
but for the most part they give no evidence
in their opinions and lives that they have heard it.

On July 4, 1862 in a row boat travelling on the Isis River in Oxford for a picnic, 10 year old Alice Liddell asked Charles Dodgson (pen name Lewis Carroll) to entertain her and her sisters with a story. He regaled the girls with stories about fantastic adventures in a magical world. Alice asked Mr. Dodgson to write it all down for her, and he eventually presented her with a manuscript of Alice's Adventures Under Ground in November 1864.
I re-colored the image of Alice Liddell from a copy of her portrait from the National Portrait Gallery.
