I went downtown in search of some nocturnal subjects, suitable for my Rangefinder, fast lens, and Fuji 1600 ISO film...

 

Came across this fellow and his two friends who were trying thier hand at street musicanship. After speaking to them for awhile, I realized what a "different place" these young fellows are in life, than I am.

 

They have time.

Lot's of time.

 

Time is a precious gift my friends, don't let it waste.

Y alguno dirá si valió la pena... El contexto socio cultural que encierra el palais... yo no pinte como en la calle, pinte en el palais... el hambre de muchos chicos es la moda de otros,

la desnutrición de muchos es la anorexia de otros (Susana Reinoso ) , lo que es miseria para el conurbano bonaerense es el glamour menemista para otros, para el que no es de este país y no sabe mucho, la cara del personaje ese que emula ser un empapelado barroco es la cara de ex presidente que vendió nuestro presente, y alrededor están todos los actos de corrupción mas impunes de la ultima época con la venta de armas, el primer piquete, su Ferrari, la corte suprema de la cual era dueño, los viajes por el famoso nefasto un dólar un peso que nos hipoteco, y varios sucesos mas que están representados en la síntesis de ese empapelado barroco y que quede bien claro el glamour menemista para esa parte de la recoleta careta de capital "mi hambre es tu moda !!!"

La realeza con lo cual quiero decir que no quiero ser artista de galeria o por lo menos no lo pretendo; que la lucha aborigen por sus derechos fueron robados por tatarabuelos de los que manejan las economias y por ende lo relaciono a las galerias lujosas de aire europeo, yo tengo el aire del aborigen. y no hago obras de lujo, hago lo que siento.

Those who have lost their lives since 1945. We shall remember them.

 

MAWDSLEY John Derek. Able Seaman SSX 849995, Royal Navy on H.M.S. Jamaica born 4th September 1930, died on Saturday8th July 1950 aged 19. He is commemorated on a plaque that is part of the boundary wall of the Birkenhead Cenotaph, Hamilton Square, Wirral and also on the Commonwealth Memorial at the United Nations Memorial Cemetery, Pusan, Korea

 

McBRIDE Alan Joseph. 2nd Lieutenant 417251, King's Regiment. Born 16th April 1932, killed in Korea 27th December 1952 aged 20. He is commemorated on a plaque that is part of the boundary wall of the Birkenhead Cenotaph, Hamilton Square, Wirral and he is at rest in United Nation Memorial Cemetery, Pusan, Korea.

 

SWORD John Richard. Sapper 23673006, Royal Engineers. Born 4th December 1940 and died in Cyprus 10th November 1959 aged 18. He is commemorated on a plaque that is part of the boundary wall of the Birkenhead Cenotaph, Hamilton Square, Wirral and he is at rest in Waynes Keep Cemetery, Nicosia, Cyprus

 

SWANICK Michael. Private 24302903, 1st Duke of Edinburgh’s Royal Regiment. He was killed by an IRA bomb during the attack on Sandes Soldiers home at Ballykinlar, Northern Ireland on the 28th October 1974 along with L/Cpl Alan Coughlan of the Royal Welch Fusiliers. The bomb was concealed in a delivery van parked on the opposite side of the road at Sandes home at the base. It exploded without warning causing the building to catch fire and collapse. He is commemorated on a plaque that is part of the boundary wall of the Birkenhead Cenotaph, Hamilton Square, Wirral . He is at rest in Landican Cemetery, Woodchurch, Birkenhead, Cheshire.

 

WEBSTER Andrew Martyn. Lance Corporal 24380552, 1st King's Regiment killed by a booby trap in West Belfast on the 9th May 1979 aged 20. He is commemorated on a plaque that is part of the boundary wall of the Birkenhead Cenotaph, Hamilton Square, Wirral and he is at rest in Christ Church Churchyard, Moreton , Wirral

 

MARSHALL T. There are three mentioned on the Armed Force Memorial. I have been unable to ascertain who is connected with the Wirral and surrounding area. In brief, they are the following. Tony. Leading Cook, Royal Navy on H.M.S. Sheffield died 4th May 1982 in the Falklands conflict. He lived at 3, Court, 10, Anson Close, Rowner, Gosport. WO2 Thomas Arthur Royal Army Medical Corps died 11th October 1968. He lived at 7, Fairnhill, Glasgow and Thomas Vincent Private with the R.E.M.E. died 27th April 1951. He is buried in Scunthorp, Lincolnshire. He lived at 63, Bushfield Road, Scunthorpe and died at the E.N.T. Hospital, Shrewsbury.

 

McLAUGHLIN Stewart Peter Frank. Corporal 24277023, 5 Platoon, B Coy 3rd Parachute Regiment. Died 12th June 1982 aged 27 on Mount Longdon, Falklands conflict. He is commemorated on a plaque that is part of the boundary wall of the Birkenhead Cenotaph, Hamilton Square, Wirral and he is at rest in Wallasey Cemetery, Rake Lane, Wallasey, Wirral. CH45.5DE

 

SMITH Steven Garry. Private 24407852, Cheshire Regiment died 6th December 1982 aged 24. He was killed, while off duty, by a bomb in the Droppin' Well public house in Ballykelly. Eleven soldiers and six civilians were murdered. He is commemorated on a plaque that is part of the boundary wall of the Birkenhead Cenotaph, Hamilton Square, Wirral and he is at rest in Landican Cemetery, Birkenhead, Cheshire

 

GARLAND Lee Stewart. Driver 24729214, Royal Corps of Transport died 5th May 1987 aged 22. He is commemorated on a plaque that is part of the boundary wall of the Birkenhead Cenotaph, Hamilton Square, Wirral

 

WEST Philip James. Lieutenant, C037055K Royal Navy on ship 849, NAS

Mk 7 Sea King Airborne Surveillance and Control (ASAC) helicopters collided over international waters in the Gulf on Saturday 22 March 2003, he was killed aged 32 along with others. He was born in Carlisle and moved with his parents to Hoylake, Wirral aged 10. He is commemorated on a plaque that is part of the boundary wall of the Birkenhead Cenotaph, Hamilton Square, Wirral, and he is at rest Budock Churchyard, Budock Water, near Falmouth.

KING Christopher. Guardsman 30030846 1st Coldstream Guards , from Birkenhead, killed in a explosion on the 22nd July 2009 aged 20, Helmand province, Afghanistan. He is commemorated on a plaque that is part of the boundary wall of the Birkenhead Cenotaph, Hamilton Square, Wirral. He is at rest in St Peter's Churchyard, West Buckland, Devon.

GOLDSMITH Oliver Arthur. Driver 19043523, Royal Army Service Corps died in Malaysia on the 25th August 1950 aged 21 along with others including Driver Ray Thomas Wilson from Birkenhead, in a plane crash. His remains were found in 2008 by expeditions teams. He is commemorated on a plaque that is part of the boundary wall of the Birkenhead Cenotaph, Hamilton Square, Wirral and he is at rest in Cheras Road Cemetery, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Driver14191793 Royal Army Service Corps died in Malaysia on the 25th August 1950 aged 21 along with others including Driver Oliver Arthur Goldsmith from Birkenhead, in a plane crash. His remains were found in 2008 by expeditions teams. He is commemorated on a plaque that is part of the boundary wall of the Birkenhead Cenotaph, Hamilton Square, Wirral and he is at rest in Cheras Road Cemetery, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

THOMAS W A There is no W.A. Thomas, commemorated on the Armed Forces Memorial at the National Memorial Arboretum, Alrewas. The nearest is "Walter". Gunner 19048576, Royal Artillery died 13th December 1960. It may also be the following soldier. I stand corrected if it not the same person. Private 22294320 Albert William THOMAS. King's Regiment died on the 5th April 1970 aged 47. He was stationed at Park Hall Camp, Oswestry. He is commemorated on a plaque that is part of the boundary wall of the Birkenhead Cenotaph, Hamilton Square, Wirral and he is at rest in Whittington Cemetery, Shropshire.

 

HOLDEN A It may be the following. Andrew Anno, Junior Technician J8207201, Royal Air Force, stationed at RAF Gatow, Germany, formerly West Berlin. He died 24th October 1984 aged 22. He is commemorated on a plaque that is part of the boundary wall of the Birkenhead Cenotaph, Hamilton Square, Wirral. He is at rest in St Mary's churchyard, The Belfrey, Yorkshire.

 

DEELEY Damian John Beresford. Marine P053247W, Commando Logistics Regiment, Royal Marines died 29th May 1997. He died after falling during a rock climbing expedition at World's End ravine, Llangollen, North Wales. A Sea King rescue helicopter from RAF Valley airlifted him to hospital but he was dead on arrival. He is commemorated on a plaque that is part of the boundary wall of the Birkenhead Cenotaph, Hamilton Square, Wirral. He is at rest in Christ Church Cemetery, Bebington, Wirral. Merseyside. L63.8LX

Horace Edgar HAWINS. Private 26274, C Company, 10th Gloucestershire Regiment died 21/09/1916 aged 23. He was the son of Mr and Mrs H H Hawkins, of Manor House, Welford-on-Avon. He is at rest in Heilly Station Cemetery, Mericourt-L'Abbe, Somme, France.

George Valentine PARRISH. Lance Corporal 266961, 1/7th Royal Warwickshire Regiment died 22/08/1917 aged 22. He was the son of Ernest Valentine Parriss and Mary Ann Parriss, of Shakespeare Stores, Welford-on-Avon. He is at rest in the Tyne Cot Cemetery, Belgium.

William BLUNDELL. Lance Corporal 26061, 2nd Gloucestershire Regiment died 01/09/1918 aged 20. He was the son of William and Minnie Blanche Blundell, of "The Yews," Welford-on-Avon, Stratford-on-Avon. He is at rest in Karasouli Military, Greece Cemetery,

Herbert HORNBY, Private 8069, 11th Royal Warwickshire Regiment killed in action 20/05/1917. He was born and enlisted in Welford-on-Avon. He is commemorated on the Arras Memorial, France.

Albert RICHARDS. Private 5123, 2nd Royal Warwickshire Regiment died 17/07/1916 aged 22. He was the son of John and Miriam Richards, of Hazel Wood, Welford-on-Avon, Stratford-on-Avon, Warwickshire. He is at rest in Heilly Station Cemetery, Mericourt-L'Abbe, Somme, France.

Alfred Claude DINGLEY. Captain, 7th North Staffordshire Regiment died 19/04/1916 aged 25. He was the son of Alfred and Maude M. Dingley, of Imbros, Welford-on-Avon. Also served at Gallipoli. He was Mentioned in Despatches three times. He is commemorated on the Basra Memorial, Iraq.

Ebenezer Francis HUNT. Private 769, 2nd Royal Warwickshire Regiment died of wounds on the 12/04/1915 aged 28 at 22nd Field Ambulance, Estaires. He was the son of James and Sarah Ada. He was living with his parents and siblings in 1901 at 51, Proctor Street, Aston, Warwickshire. His sisters, Maria, Sarah, Florence and his widow, Hannah were all granted a war gratuity. He is commemorated on the Le Touret Memorial, France.

Frederick James FARLEY. Lance Corporal 2822, 9th Royal Warwickshire Regiment died 17/08/1915 aged 25. He was the son of Thomas and Eliza Mercy of Laburnum Cottage, Welford on Avon. He is commemorated on the Helles Memorial, Turkey (including Gallipoli).

Francis LIDDELL. Private 28633, 1st Hampshire Regiment died 22/04/1918 aged 18. He was the son of William and Annie Liddell, of Brook Leys, Bickmarsh, Bidford-on-Avon, Warwickshire. In 1911 he was living with his parents and siblings at Earls Common, Himbleton, Droitwich His brother William Henry also fell. He is commemorated on the Loos Memorial, France.

H.SMITH. It may be this person. Henry Harvey SMITH. Private 8469, 1st Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry killed in action on the 14/10/1914. He was born in South Littleton, lived in Evesham, both in Worcestershire and enlisted in Stratford on Avon, Warwickshire. He was the son of Mrs Julia Harrison, of Shinnel Lane, South Littleton, Evesham. He is at rest in Vauxbuin French National Cemetery, France.

Frank FREEMAN. Private 28218, 9th Gloucestershire Regiment died 25/05/1917 aged 20. He was the son of Rosa Freeman of The Close, Welford on Avon. He is commemorated on the Doiran Memorial, Greece.

William Henry LIDDELL. Private 32835, 2/5th Gloucestershire Regiment. Born at Belbroughton, Worcestershire to William and Annie of Brook Leys, Bickmarsh, Bidford-on-Avon, Warwickshire. In 1911 he was living with his parents and siblings at Earls Common, Himbleton, Droitwich. He was aged 15 and he was employed as a plough boy on a farm. He died of wounds on the 05/12/1917. His brother, Francis also fell He is at rest in Sunken Road Cemetery, Villers-Plouich, France.

William SMITH. Lance Corporal 15206, 9th Worcestershire Regiment died in Mesopotamia on the 07/07/1916. He was born and raised in Welford-on-Avon. He is at rest in Basra War Cemetery, Iraq.

E HANCOX. It may be the following. Ernest HANCOX. Private 1573, 2nd Royal Warwickshire Regiment died of wounds on the 29/01/1915, aged 24. He was raised at Cubbington, Warwickshire and he was the son of George and Emma. He is at rest in Chocques Military Cemetery, France.

James Arthur MATTHEWS. Private 31395, 1/6th Gloucestershire Regiment died 09/08/1917 aged 28. He was the son of Sarah Rosetta Matthews, of Virginia Cottage, Welford-on-Avon, Stratford-on-Avon. He is at rest in Dozinghem Military Cemetery, Belgium.

W.WILSON. It may be the following. William Jesse Eastbury WILSON. Corporal 22883, 10th Suffolk Regiment died 01/09/1916 aged 20. He was the son of Mr W.A.Wilson of Holly Dene, Welford, Stratford on Avon. He is at rest in Abney Park Cemetery, London

Bernard Arthur HARRIS. Gunner 199106, D Battery, 330th Brigade, Royal Field Artillery died 24/10/1917 aged 21. He was the son of Thomas and Harriet E. Harris, of Welford-on-Avon, Stratford-on-Avon. He is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial, Belgium.

Geoffrey Roger BRYAN. Corporal 4042446, 2nd King's Shropshire Light Infantry died 06/06/1944 aged 23. He was the son of Sam and Agnes Mary Bryan, of Welford-on-Avon, Warwickshire. He is at rest in La Delivrande War Cemetery, Douvres, France.

Stanley BURTON. (D.F.C.) Flying Officer, Pilot 158541, Royal Air Force (VR) died 09/03/1944. (Wills and Admin) He lived at Barndale, Welford-on-Avon. His effects went to Walter William Burton, engineer and Doris May Burton, wife of Walter. He is at rest in St Peter's Churchyard, Welford on Avon, Warwickshire.

Albert John HARRIS. Lieutenant, Royal Naval (VR) on H.M.Trawler Stella Capella died at sea on the 19/03/1942 aged 30. He was the son of Albert and Hannah Harris, of Welford-on-Avon, Warwickshire. He is commemorated on the Lowestoft Naval Memorial, Suffolk.

Dennis JOHNSON. Private 14405715, 8th Parachute Regiment died 06/06/1944. He was the son of Charles Edward and Daisey Elizabeth of Welford-on-Avon. He is at rest in Ranville War Cemetery, France.

Robert KERR. Guardsman 2663454, 3rd Coldstream Guards died 25/01/1944 aged 33. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Campbell Kerr and he was the husband of Elizabeth Susan Kerr, of Welford-on-Avon, Warwickshire. He is at rest in Minturno War Cemetery, Italy.

F.H. MILLS It may be this person. Frederick Henry MILLS, Trooper 329036, Royal Scots Greys (2nd Dragoons), Royal Armoured Corps died 07/10/1944 aged 25. Born in 1919 in Alcester, Warwickshire, and he is commemorated on the Groesbeek Memorial, Gelderlands, Netherlands

CARTER, Robert Peter. Private 14207780, 1st East Surrey Regiment died 24/10/1944 aged 21. He was the son of Howard and Katherine of Welford-on-Avon. He is at rest in Santerno Valley War Cemetery, Italy.

 

DAY, Eric John. Flight Sergeant, Air Bomber 1581324, 61st Squadron Royal Air Force (VR) died 16/03/1945. He was the son of John Thomas Day and Mabel Day, of Welford-on-Avon, Warwickshire; husband of Elizabeth Agnes Day, of Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. He is at rest in Durnbach War Cemetery, Bayern, Germany.

 

FARLEY, Frederick James. Lance Corporal 2822, 9th Royal Warwickshire Regiment died 17/08/1915 aged 25. He was the son of Thomas and Eliza Mercy of Laburnum Cottage, Welford-on-Avon, Stratford-on-Avon, and the late Thomas Farley. He is commemorated on the Helles Memorial, Turkey (including Gallipoli)

 

GOODWIN, Denis Charles. Flying Officer 131493, 101 Squadron, Royal Air Force (VR) died 13/06/1943 aged 34. He was the son George and Mary Goodwin and he was the husband of Constance Joan Goodwin, of Welford-on-Avon, Warwickshire. He is commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial, Surrey.

 

GREEN, Harold Fiddian. Sergeant 2656703, Coldstream Guards, died 03/11/1945 aged 31. He was the son of Harold and Pollie Elizabeth Green, of Welford-on-Avon. He was formerly a prisoner of war. He is at rest in Stratford on Avon, Cemetery, Warwickshire.

 

NEWEY, Wilfred George. (D.S.O., T.D.) Lieutenant Colonel, Royal Artillery died 01/02/1945 aged 38. He was the son of James George and Ouida Ethel Newey and he was the husband of Marjorie Newey, of Welford-on-Avon, Warwickshire. He is at rest in Imtarfa Military Cemetery, Malta.

He was the son of Edward and Harriet Elizabeth Parke, of Welford-on-Avon, Stratford-on-Avon, England. He is commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial, Ypres, Belgium.

 

RENOUF, John Stanley. Flying Officer, J/5682, 511 Squadron, Royal Canadian Air Force died 23/03/1943 aged 27. He was the son of Stanley G. and Margery Renouf, of Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada and he was the husband of Sheila L. Renouf, of Welford-on-Avon, Warwickshire. Chartered Accountant. He is commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial, Surrey.

Ramona Grasslands Nature Preserve

Not just a ditch with some water in it, this is an actual named creek in Colorado Springs. The water comes from a natural spring, this is 'Mesa Creek' on the West Side of Colorado Springs.
