We were up in the Houston area for a wedding shower and decided to check out the famed bolivar peninsula. We got up early and headed out to high island. This sunrise backlit shot of a great egret was one of the first shots I took after setting up.

As the sun dips below the horizon, Phoenix is bathed in a soft gradient of gold and indigo. Silhouettes of desert trees and distant mountains frame a tranquil pond, reflecting the fleeting colors of twilight. This peaceful scene captures the magic of an Arizona sunset, where nature’s palette meets the calm of the evening.
Absolutely a MUST to visit. Phoenix Secondus is a huge beautiful SIM with a ton of unique places full of atmosphere. You won't regret it!

A macro of a yellow lily. When I composed this shot, the stigma & stamens reminded me of a phoenix rising from the fire and ashes, which in this picture are the bokeh'd petals.

I am finally planning a book of my best photographs--a portfolio of sorts, but I am having a little trouble deciding on which photos to consider. I figured that one way to narrow down my selection is to ask you. I would especially like to hear from those of you who have watched my stream for at least 6 months. A phoenix is a legendary, immortal bird from mythology, symbolizing rebirth and renewal by rising from its own ashes.
The name also refers to the capital of Arizona and various entities, including a French indie band, a NASA Mars lander, and a UK financial group. It can also refer to a character from Greek myth (son of Amyntor)

Phoenix is a town in the middle of the desert fed by rivers and bathes in the sun. The hearty folks there hike in triple digits through thorns and rattlesnakes to take in the vast and wondrous views of the many surrounding peaks. Here a fly fisherman floats the Salt River beneath what they call a cloudy sky, I call it heaven. :)
Rising from the ashes of several fires, the derelict South Parade Pier at Southsea is now being renovated, and hopefully will regain its former glory as a notable pleasure pier on the south coast.
