The boulders look like mountains, but they're not.
I got up close to these sandstone rocks and pointed my camera upwards to that dramatic sky. This blocked out the road and telephone poles that lay beyond the rocks. It gives weight to the rocks that wouldn't ordinarily be there, if I was standing upright and pointing level to the ground at them. It also pulls the sky down to the boulders, making it appear to be a mountain scene.
There's more than one way to view life.
DIMINISHING PERSPECTIVE: I went to a dance recital last week, and took photos for some close friends. These little girls are get getting ready to start their dance routine. The littlest girl (daughter of my friends) on the back row is actually as tall as all the others. but the diminishing perspective adds an interesting touch to this image.
A bright summer's day directly beneath the bridge between the islands of Fyn and Tåsinge in Denmark.
When I was riding my bike underneath the bridge trying to find my way on top of it, I was captured by the way the pillars and the perspective makes the bridge appear like a modern cathedral. The extremely bright, almost divine, light that day only added to that feeling.
The bridge is 1220 meters long and was finished in 1966.
Another view of the bridge can be seen in this image.

After focusing on money/finances in yesterday's shot, tonight I decided to go with something with a little bit more heart in it.
In an effort to try to shake things up a bit and fight my recent creative slump, I decided to change the camera's perspective. To do this, I put the camera on the tripod on top of a cabinet about 13 or 14 feet high so the camera was looking down on me.
With the camera in this position, I wanted to go for "moody" lighting, so I setup a single flash with a tight grid spot to my right to focus the light entirely on my face and upper body and to control spill. I took this with the lights on, but at a shutter speed of 1/250 sec and a tighter aperture, only the light from the flash made its way into the shot. Here's the setup shot: www.flickr.com/photos/lighthack/4602451478/

What can happen when an 11 mm DX lens is used on a FX camera.
Single point perspective with 11 mm lens.
An interesting perspective experiment with an ultra wide angle lens. The camera was aimed at the horizon just below the bright light to the right of the cars and above the topiary tree. The single vanishing point is on the horizon just above the cars (See notes on photo).
The real life ≈23° angle separating the aiming and vanishing points required radical perspective adjustments.
Settings: 13 sec - ƒ/22 - ISO 640 - 11 mm
