DIMINISHING PERSPECTIVE: I went to a dance recital last week, and took photos for some close friends. These little girls are get getting ready to start their dance routine. The littlest girl (daughter of my friends) on the back row is actually as tall as all the others. but the diminishing perspective adds an interesting touch to this image.
A bright summer's day directly beneath the bridge between the islands of Fyn and TÃ¥singe in Denmark.
When I was riding my bike underneath the bridge trying to find my way on top of it, I was captured by the way the pillars and the perspective makes the bridge appear like a modern cathedral. The extremely bright, almost divine, light that day only added to that feeling.
The bridge is 1220 meters long and was finished in 1966.
Another view of the bridge can be seen in this image.

Another marble quarry picture to give the viewer a perspective on the size of the quarries.
We were discussing which way up from here, and decided the shortcut straight up would be a bit difficult, if not stupid really.
Marble mining in Mijas Pueblo has a long history dating back to Roman times, with the stone being transported by river and sea to other places.
The marble has been used in both architecture and sculpture, with local Mijas marble being used to build the Malaga Cathedral and the Alcazaba in Seville, among other things.
During the 17th and 18th centuries, workers in the agate and marble quarries in the mountains near the village lived.

After focusing on money/finances in yesterday's shot, tonight I decided to go with something with a little bit more heart in it.
In an effort to try to shake things up a bit and fight my recent creative slump, I decided to change the camera's perspective. To do this, I put the camera on the tripod on top of a cabinet about 13 or 14 feet high so the camera was looking down on me.
With the camera in this position, I wanted to go for "moody" lighting, so I setup a single flash with a tight grid spot to my right to focus the light entirely on my face and upper body and to control spill. I took this with the lights on, but at a shutter speed of 1/250 sec and a tighter aperture, only the light from the flash made its way into the shot. Here's the setup shot: www.flickr.com/photos/lighthack/4602451478/

What can happen when an 11 mm DX lens is used on a FX camera.
Single point perspective with 11 mm lens.
An interesting perspective experiment with an ultra wide angle lens. The camera was aimed at the horizon just below the bright light to the right of the cars and above the topiary tree. The single vanishing point is on the horizon just above the cars (See notes on photo).
The real life ≈23° angle separating the aiming and vanishing points required radical perspective adjustments.

Edinburgh from a different perspective: cruising along the Union Canal on the beautiful 60ft wide-beam Lochrin Belle.
The Union Canal - the Edinburgh and Glasgow Union Canal to give it its full name - runs from Falkirk to Edinburgh and was constructed to bring minerals, especially coal, to the capital. It was opened in 1822.
Have you noticed that some of the bridges along the route are painted black, blue, red, and gold? The colours represent different aspects of the canal: black for the coal transported by barge, blue for the inland waterways, red for the lives lost during its construction, and gold for the money made from the trade.
