Decorated Frames

Quite a few years ago I wanted to see something different in the way photography was presented when at Club and Outside competitions.

So I came up with these ideas. I used Newspapers, Wallpapers, plastic laminate or simply painted or sprayed paints on the front of the mounts. Sometimes plain, sometimes a bit more elaborate. Looking through the three boxes of prints I have left, I thought I might have had more, however I shall post the first batch.

They had a mixed reception when entered in competitions, club members in general were quite positive about them, the majority of Judges on the other hand did not like them. They really didn’t like them. Although I got a couple of really high marks out of 20.

I remember a film when the line “Endeavor to Persevere” was spoken, I never forgot it.

This time of year it’s possible to catch the sun low in the trees in the centre of this local hill. However, the light can be blinding to drivers and so I had to be very conscious of traffic. Luckily it’s an extremely quiet road; I had a total of three vehicles pass during the time I was there. And of course one of them was right at the point when the sun was slap bang in the centre, and so I had to move and recompose😣.

Another view of the chrysanthemum that I "borrowed" from my neighbour's garden. It is still very windy here today, but I persevered until it dropped for a moment. This is not cropped and taken with my 28-70 mm lens and the 12 mm and 20 mm macro extension tubes.

And a return to my archives yet again! Can’t seem to get any momentum with posting these last couple of months. I picked a good half dozen images to process from the past two years and all were similar to images I’ve already uploaded. I’ve had three from Elgol stuck in my Work In Progress folder since the trip and can’t bring myself round to doing anything with them, so I’ve given myself a good talking to and persevered with this one.

Still didn’t like it until I put it through Viveza 2… rather like the outcome now, hope you do to.

After a long day of walking and savouring the varied delights of the Yorkshire Dales. I ended up at the lone tree at Winskill Stones with fellow Flickr buddies, John Bleakley, Terry Roberts and Brad Eide. It did not look promising for sunset, but we persevered in hope!

The cloud on the Western horizon had a small eye shaped aperture of possibility as sunset approached. The question was, whether this aperture was sky clear enough for the sun to poke through or just another lighter layer of cloud!

I had been here many times before and always come away with something worthwhile, but for our visiting American friend this was a first! When the sun got near to the horizon, it was clear we were going to get some light and wow, it turned out to be really nice golden light, which delighted our TOG from over the pond.

This is two seperate RAW files one exposed for the foreground at f11 and one for the sky at f22.

Well, I guess we can rip up the old folklore rulebook about spring arriving after the robin has had three snows on its tail. This chilly robin is just dusting off the fifth snow that's been dumped on its tail now in March and winter shows no signs of departing soon. We are currently experiencing some of the coldest weather we've had all winter😣

She had a batch of kits in the hollow of an old Baldwin apple tree at the edge of the barnyard. This image was from the day she decided to relocate her little brood to a more secluded abode. It turned out to be a bit of a three ring circus because the youngsters wouldn't stay where she put them. She would drop one off and upon returning to get another one, discover that the first one was out of the new den tree, lost and squalling its head off from somewhere in the underbrush. What should have been a 15 minute task stretched to close to an hour. Good Mamma; she persevered and this was one of the few images that had all three of the little tykes headed in the same direction at the same time.

It was an adventure: It was a misty, cool and very wet day at the beach. In addition, we had to watch that our return route would not be cut off by the fast incoming tide.

Anyway, we persevered and my husband, with great difficulty, managed to gather several of the low-hanging apples on the lone tree growing on a steep bank behind the wet and slippery piles of driftwood. The apples are small but definitely crisp and delicious!!

Time never comes back, That's why i want to cherish the time with you. Thank you for always helping me out.

La photo est tout à fait incroyable mais il faudrait surtout se demander pourquoi une telle vision est-elle bien possible en Moldavie ?

Elle a été prise par Libor, le photographe qui transporte un perroquet sur la tête et que vous avez déjà vue sur ma galerie !

Il faut savoir que ce perroquet est naturellement originaire d'Argentine, du Brésil et d'Uruguay !!!

Malheureusement, en raison de l'intervention des gens, il a également peuplé de nombreux endroits en Europe !

Aussi esthétique que puisse être la photographie ci-dessus, son essence est en réalité tragique car les espèces introduites par l'homme sont l'une des causes les plus importantes de la perte d'espèces sauvages …

N.B : Étymologie. Vient de la première partie de la maxime latine Errare humanum est, perseverare diabolicum (« Se tromper est humain, persévérer [dans l'erreur] est diabolique ») issue des Sermons de saint Augustin.

A flock of around 100 monk parakeets has landed in the treetops!

The photo is quite incredible but we should especially ask ourselves why is such a vision possible in Moldova?

It was taken by Libor, the photographer who carries a parrot on his head and whom you have already seen on my gallery!

You should know that this parrot is naturally native to Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay!!!

Unfortunately, due to people's intervention, it has also populated many places in Europe!

As aesthetic as the photograph above may be, its essence is actually tragic as human-introduced species are one of the most significant causes of wildlife loss...

NB: Etymology. Comes from the first part of the Latin maxim Errare humanum est, perseverare diabolicum ("To err is human, to persevere [in error] is diabolical") from the Sermons of Saint Augustine.

Graceful, strong, beautiful and full of life. Just as a horse should be. This guy is something, in my opinion anyway. And his owner was very happy with his photos. Which then, of course, makes me very happy, too. :-). This picture helped sell him to his new owner so he will be going to a new home soon.

Hiking trip got delayed a day. Midnight was bleeding all over the place yesterday morning to my horror, so rushed him to my vet. He's fine, everything is okay, just an abscessed gland. So he is going with us on the hiking trip.

I want to go back to bed but I have to get up,,, 😴

This Gannet thought it had come across a nice piece of nesting material but when it tugged on the end it found that it was firmly fixed to the side of the cliff! It persevered for a while then gave it up as a bad job! Taken at RSPB Bempton Cliffs.

…… And two tree’s out of the mist! Another from my early morning iPhone shoot the other day. I tried taking some photo’s in Portrait mode - Apple HEIC files rather than Apple RAW, this shot was then edited in NIK Silver Efex Pro2 & then Lightroom. I’m finding Apple RAW gives more leeway for further processing as I slowly find my way around this great phone - this HEIC file took a bit more work but I rather liked the Geese flying through so I persevered. (previous post taken in Apple RAW in 1st comment box) Alan:-) ……..

Norway, as everyone probably knows, often doesn't spoil the weather ;) Rain, snow, and hail are common in autumn. But it rewards those who persevere with beautiful views, the Northern Lights, and a fantastic climate. From time to time, you even have the opportunity to take a photo in quite decent conditions ;)

Photo taken from one of the viewpoints in the town of Å, the furthest point in the Lofoten Islands. To reach the very end of the Lofoten Islands, you'll have to go hiking.

Norwegia jak wszyscy pewnie wiedzą często nie rozpieszcza pogodą ;) Deszcz, śnieg, grad w okresie jesiennym są na porządku dziennym. Lecz odwdzięcza się wytrwałym pięknymi widokami, zorzą polarną i fantastycznym klimatem. Od czasu do czasu masz nawet możliwość zrobienia zdjęcia w całkiem nienajgorszych warunkach ;)

Fotografia zrobiona w jednym z punktów widokowych w miejscowości Å, najdalej wysuniętej na Lofotach. Aby dojść na sam koniec Lofotów musisz się udać na pieszą wędrówkę.

Alright, this was suppose to be a heartfelt greeting for the start of the Holiday Season but, as it was a spur of the moment idea…. it fell apart from the start. As you can tell, I am a female turkey, as the purchase on MarketPlace was placed haphazardly and without double checking…. so hence, I’m coming to you as you see me, now. Since time was of the essence, I had to make do with what I had… a few bottles of Vodka later and all was right with the world and I was ready to make my grand entrance as the Happy Turkey for Thanksgiving 2020!

Unfortunately, those bottles weren’t enough and reality kicked in, as to what happened and how things had to proceed as is…. so with further ado, I want to wish everyone who is celebrating Thanksgiving, to be safe and smart and we will all persevere this year! For those who aren’t celebrating Thanksgiving, hopefully this little moment in time, will bring a smile to your face and if just for a moment, allows you to forget how things are outside and let’s you have a laugh at some old schmuck in sl, who just wanted to bring a laugh or smile to anyone, this picture comes across.
