16th June 2019 at King and Queen (bar), London W1.
“Musical Traditions Festival”, Musical Traditions Folk Club, www.englishfolkinfo.org.uk/mustrad/mtc.html.
Similar in format to the Keith Summers Festivals, these three days of sessions returned thanks to the financial support of Finbarr Wall. Attending for the weekend were 17 main guest singers and instrumentalists from England, Scotland, Ireland and the USA. With some additional "pop in" guests for a session or two. Plus a series of resident bands and floorspots.
The last of the four sessions on the Sunday afternoon included shorter guest spots. plenty of floorspots and a larger informal resident band. There was also a Bloomsday segment (the annual Dublin celebration of James Joyce's Ulysses) by the visitors from the An Góilín club.
Country: Britain (Irish descent). Style: Performance Poetry.
Lineup: Peter “Racker” Donnelly (recitations).
"Racker" Donnelly was born in Sheffield to Irish parents and has strong connections to Bray. He sees his humorous poems as folllowing the Irish tradition of the Reacaire, a reciter of topical poems. I have taken photos of him three times before, twice at other Musical Traditions Club events (www.flickr.com/photos/kmlivemusic/tags/rackerdonnelly,-mu...).

His systems originate in the inchoate swirl of vowels, consonants, misspellings, shapes, stammerings, and emerge as audio recordings, books, visual entities, volumes of letters, and performances that verse and reverse utterance. Kaie's work fuses formal experiment and social engagement. Kaie is the author of 2 books of poetry: Lettricity (Cumulus Press 2004), and Maple Leaf Rag (Arbeiter Ring Publishing 2010), and 2 Sound recordings: Vox:Versus (WOW 2011), and Creole Continuum (HOWL! 2014). Kaie has performed and published internationally, and is presently working on a novel.

This is a Poem: SENSE/AntiSENSE
This project is the result of a collaboration between Jason Taellious, Richard Thietje, Jim Hill and Meesh Rheault Miller. This project explores the fusion of a new form of performance poetry and experimental film. Contrapuntal language and synchronicity are layered with added strata of visuals, sound and music. The viewer experiences the intention of the words on multiple levels – a sort of ephemeral sound sculpture and visual alchemy the unexpected result of reinventing media.
