It was amazing to watch these birds gather to dance and compete for the attention of the females. The almost perfectly synchronized movements were magical. Near Wainwright, Alberta.

The corporate colours of the Dutch railways suit this Vectron series 193 perfectly, which is towing an Intercity train to the German capital in Dijkerhoek.
Another from my GND encounter on Mull. In this shot you can see beads of water along the birds head showing just how well adapted the bird is for such an aquatic life. I don't know however I imagine that the male bird spends little to no time on land at all and is either at home on/in water or in the air.

The Thrush-like Wren is 6.5 to 7 inches in length. It inhabits dry forests, scrublands, and semi-arid regions, thriving among thorny vegetation and open landscapes. Known for its thrush-like appearance and melodious songs, this bird captivates with its subtle plumage and lively presence. I love how this photo captures the bird in the shade while its face is perfectly illuminated by sunlight, accentuating its striking red eye.
This orchid was gifted to me and has repeat bloomed to reveal the most beautiful details within.
It had blue blooms when I received it but these were artificially coloured as a result of dye being added to the plant. Why would you spoil an already perfectly pure bloom?
A day or two ago the bloom was in bud but when I looked today it was opening to reveal this exquisite structure within, giving me the perfect opportunity to capture its beauty.
I placed the plant by a window for natural light, placed some black card behind and used a mirror to reflect light onto the bloom.
Best time ever! We waited ages for this and finally this year our schedules matched perfectly. We soooo deserved that! Thank you Sam for choosing such a wonderful place ♥

Eight shot joiner during which someone walking a dog disturbed the browsing Rooks, I kept shooting my sequence suspecting this would work and if not I could always start again! To my surprise the joiner worked perfectly with Rooks in flight and all.

Here was a predator in its element, perfectly adapted to its environment, showcasing a slice of life that's both raw and beautiful. It's these glimpses into wildlife that remind us to appreciate and protect our natural habitats.

Night shots at Brentor have been my nemesis over the years, and one day everything will align perfectly... even though the sky was supposed to be clear there was still some light clouds drifting around and covering the horizon, and soon after this they drifted overhead to block even more of the stars, I’m still edging closer to a shot I can be happy with!

The acropolis of Alatri (province of Frosinone town, Italy) is located in the heart of the historic center, on the top of the hill. It is of considerable interest for its polygonal walls, made up of several layers of polymorphic megaliths that often reach a length of 3 meters, coming from the same hill and made to fit together perfectly without the aid of lime or cement.
The dating is uncertain, but it dates back to the 7th-6th century BC.

This beautiful barn owl quartered her grounds, successfully hunted & despatched her kill in awful conditions. Came & perched here on this tufted mound about 40ft from me, preened her damp feathers & then floated off into the distant mist back to her roost. Early mornings are made of stuff like this…. Just magical

Anhinga…perfectly backlit

When nature presents something wonderful, something transitory, to you, there can be no hesitation. Such moments will likely never repeat themselves.
While driving home today, we notices a Great-blue Heron and an Anhinga on the edge of the lagoon in our backyard. The heron was in a normal vertical stance, but the Anhinga was drying out its wings. I ran into the house for the camera, and, in a very stealthy manner, attempted to get into a position at the water’s edge. The Anhinga was obviously aware of me and somewhat annoyed as it moved its head rapidly from side to side. But, it didn’t change its position. I found a good spot where it was visible beneath the limbs of a tree, and nearly in line with the sun. This is the best of about a dozen frames. And all while standing on one foot.
