I love this girl! The carving and make up are delicate, perfect and flawless. No photoshop or editing here and she is facing the sun.

perfection is a summer day spent with family. we had kyle's graduation lunch yesterday, this is autumn walking down a downtown street (gorgeous state street for my flickr friends who know the area).
My godaughter: it's always so interesting how perfectly formed little children are it's only half her face and she's still beautiful.

This is a shot from my most recent home-developed roll of film. For a time people snickered when I mentioned using film, especially B&W. Now they know it's just part of what I enjoy doing. For me, the most gratifying part is opening the developing tank up and unrolling the developed film. While I squeegie it off and blow it dry, I carefully inspect each frame and so many things come rushing back about the experience of the place, the person, or the thing I have captured on the negative. Once in a while I fall in love with a frame on the negative, and then when I scan it, it's not exactly how I envisioned it. This is one of those cases. The shutterspeed was too slow. Nothing's sharp. But the closer I look at it I realize how it really *Feels* right somehow. That I still love it despite its technical imperfections. That it was the lavender blowing in the breeze, the same lavender we walk by all the time and the kids can't keep their hands off of. Then I realize that I do love it just as much, if not more than when I saw it in negative form. And that's why I'm posting it here.
Also? I'm really honing my scanning skills. I finally figured out the scanner drivers and I'm using them, AND my scans don't come out sepia anymore. They're actually black and white! Novel concept...

This is my favorite shot from week four of this season. This turned out so perfect. I knew when I snagged it that it would look good, but I had no idea it would look THIS good.
