Bridges connect communities, so there's always been something fascinating to me with how overpasses divide worlds. Here where Highway 101 roars high above Clementsport Road and the West Moose River, there's no intersection or off-ramp. The breathless pace of full-speed traffic and the winding crawl of a rural road exist in perfect separation. You could barely blink while hurtling over, and never notice what lies below. That distancing quality of infrastructure has a pull on me, the long way around to get from one point to the next by motorized transport. Oh, sure, I could mount the slope with a thirty second sprint – but it's ten minutes minimum driving. The need just isn't there for most folks. Though once, I did drop someone on the highway shoulder so he could stumble to a house near below. The chill of concrete calls me, like dead branches, like ice intruding inward. All my most moving beauty is stark.

On Saturday we had breakfast in Sedona, then set out for Clarkdale where we boarded the Verde Canyon Railroad, it was an amazing experience, the open air viewing deck, and perfect spring day, was more than we could have even hoped for!
The Crow Wing Co-op got these cute little hothouse tomatoes and I was lucky enough to get them to sit for a photo.
Found this "interactive" advertising flyer on the pavement which I think may have come from inside a holiday brochure. Comes complete with handy "Perfect!" stickers so you can bookmark the right getaway for you.
Love the choice of imagery on the front too.
Woke up early this morning for Spencer to head to work and for me to head home. He made a pot of coffee while I still lay in bed. When he came back in he told me I had to see the sunrise. I looked out the kitchen window and knew what todays picture would be. We ran outside into the freezing cold (me wearing his boxers and led zepplin t shirt, him in pants, shirtless with biker jacket and a furry russian hat - we make an attractive couple) and shot a few pictures. The whole sky was lit up pink from this sunrise, including Burke mountain behind us. It was amazing. Needless to say I was pretty awake after that.

from my strawberry patch, which spreads further and further with each summer. a friend picked a ton of them while i was away for the weekend, so what's left goes into my cereal. and maybe on some ice cream.
