Have I said how much I like the eye detect in the R5?
Really not a good shot, just showing how fun it is shooting birds I would never get before.

I often wonder how many eyes are watching me when I'm sitting on a meadow. Most of these eyes are very well hidden but I noticed these lovely blue ones looking at me from behind a blade of grass. They belonged to a white-legged damselfly (also called blue featherleg), one of the most common damselflies around here.
I love this shot I got of Donovan today. He was behind this tree and I was just waiting for him to look at me through the trunks. So when he did, I was ready for it, LOL.
A Downy Woodpecker peeking around a branch looking for more of the Giant Bark Aphids that it was eating at Huntley Meadows Park in Alexandria, VA on 11/7/22.

Here's the other Great Horned Owl (Bubo virginianus) that I saw a few days ago in the nest. I went back to the Glendale Recharge Ponds again and was able to get a shot of him peeking at me.
You’ve all heard of Peking Duck, well this is an image of Peeking Owl. (My apologies.). This Great Horned Owl just couldn’t resist leaning out far enough to check me out on the other side of the tree. This owl and its partner are well accustomed to people, and not alarmed at all. But they are curious. (Bubo Virginianus). (Sony a1ii, 400mm lens @ f/2.8, 1/1250 second, ISO 4000).
That is one huge monstera leaf! They grow them big in the rainforests of Maui. I liked her touch of poking the little pink flower through the hole in the leaf. Nice memory of a fun family day spent together on the island.

I can't resist posting one more of these, as it was such a unique sky. The sun peeks through the smoky skies over the Shiawassee NWR as the west coast wildfires impact skies in Michigan, 2000 miles away.
