I'm still 'ghosting' the WLDC themed walks. This is my optional theme. You may even say it's my dream theme. I found this peculiar space in the basement of Selfridge's department store.
I'll be away for a couple of weeks looking for Alice in a deconstructed three-dimensional chess board
Sehr beschäftigt mit wiss. Exp. & Nachbesprechungen seit Serena, Sergey & ich im Dez. von der #ISS zurückgekehrt sind. Zeit, auf eine sehr erfolgreiche Horizons Mission zurückzublicken, mit unveröffentl. Archivbildern. / Life on #Earth has been busy with science and debriefs since Serena, Sergey and I returned from the Space Station in December. Time to reflect on a very successful Horizons mission with more unpublished archive images from space.

From a free pattern sheet in an old "woman's own" mag I think. Anyone who knows me well will know why these ones appealed to me!
For this pendant I used a convergence pattern inspired by a quilting template (by Ricky Tims) combined with an extruder cane pattern by Bettina Welker.
Here's a little diagram on how I quilted the circles. I first drew them with a washable marker, tracing around the top of a cookie cutter container (it was handy, and approximately the size I was going for!). Then I quilted using my walking foot. I did my quilting in columns, starting at the top and making a figure 8 type pattern to quilt one side of the circle, then following across to quilt the other side of the circle below, as shown in this diagram. To get nice round circles, you want to make sure your circles are touching when you draw them on.
Not sure if this is a version of Trip Around the World or not. Anybody know the name? I saw a similar one on this site a while ago and it inspired me to start one of my own. I have a long way to go on it, but I love the way it's turning out.
Emperor Dragonfly (Anax imperator) male.
Another capture from my latest encounter with the emperor of dragonflies. I was looking for interesting compositions to highlight the design patterns of this fascinating creature. I liked how this one turned out, except perhaps the harsh reflections of the flash on the wing. Maybe I should have positioned the flash more to the left (I had it on a bracket)...
