pattern/random pattern - is random pattern an oxymoron?

Here are a couple of patterns that I recently made. I had so much fun drawing just simple doodles and playing around with them! I love patterns, can´t wait to make more!

A MILLION THANKS TO ALL THE COMMENTS LEFT IN THE LAST 2 MONTHS AND ALSO AN APOLOGY FOR NOT ANSWERING TO YOUR SWEET WORDS. THE LAST TIMES HAVE BEEN PRETTY BUSY AND I DIDN´T CHECK FLICKR. THANK YOU!♥♥♥♥

I was preaching at the 10:30 service at Copthorne Chapel this morning. This interestingly figured panel is on the speaker's lectern. I have often admired it.

Bit of a strange one this. Living in Beeston, I had decided to make the effort to visit the Clifton side of Beeston Weir. Having made a number of images of the weak sunset, I stood by the water's edge for a moment to ponder my next move. My lack of movement must have given the nearby wildlife some false confidence, and seconds later I heard a rustling in the nearby grass. A tiny mouse ran out, glanced at me, then dashed under a rock. I thought nothing more of it until I began making abstract images of the froth patterns on the surface of the water and was astonished to see one of the froth patterns reveal something that looked a little bit like the mouse that I had just encountered!

Spring and autumn for me, there are so many great subjects at these times. I thank you all for your wonderful images that make me get out there to try and get some images for myself. Thank-you so much for your great encouragement.

Patterns beneath our feet

The next four pattern photos were all taken in Perth city centre. I was heading in for coffee with a friend, so I left about 15 minutes early to look for some photo opps.

So, a challenge and a time constraint… and a lens constraint – only using my 14mm.

My first shot was the patterns in these cobbles. I think they are mesmerising.

Our brains are pattern-detection machines that connect the dots, making it possible to uncover meaningful relationships among the barrage of sensory input we face. Without such meaning-making, the natural and interpersonal world around us would be too chaotic.

Seeing no pattern where a pattern exists, is more dangerous...
