Tonight was my daughter's first night with Tucker, her horse, on the Sheriff's Mounted Division. My job? Sewing the patches on her shirts. I can handle that!
As I was heading out of town on Monday to pickup Wendy from a retreat I realized our Beetle had a tire low on air. I stopped by the local tire shop (Quality Tire) for a quick patch. $12 and 10 minutes later the car was ready to go. I had a nail which they quickly found.
Ralph Metzger owns an agricultural trucking company and a grain elevator near Yolo, CA which is north of Woodland, CA on I5. In a spare couple of acres with I5 in the background he plants an annual Zinnia Patch. It's a community contribution. The patch is open to anyone to take some Zinnias for free. He only asks that if you take some that you take some more for someone who can't get out & get their own. The flowers attract bees & bee flies mostly but there are other creatures in the mix. There are shears & vases provided, but it's safer to bring your own.

I spend so much time on my knees when making quilts that I've gone through my jeans!
These patches are made from bits left over from the blue boxes quilt.
For whatever reason after turning the hull over I discovered a deformity in the bottom about 8 foot back from the bow. A plywood patch was glued down over the problem. The panel was rough shaped on the bottom to fit and later the top was sanded down to fair out the area as seen in the next picture.

patched the Girl's jeans by placing a bit of blue and yellow Liberty fabric from Joey under the jeans and randomly machine sewing it to the jeans. She's pleased ... says it looks like boxers! :-)

My favorite cardigan (Knitting Pure & Simple, made with Bartlett yarn) sprung a hole in one of the elbows when I was on my big trip last month.
It was about time. I have worn this sweater 2-3 times a week for the past 8 or 9 years.
Ellen had the great idea of making felt patches. She found a skein of Ultra Alpaca that was a good match. I knit a really big swatch and felted it. Then, I made templates using the shapes on Microsoft Word and cut.
It's funny how the color of the yarn looks drastically different in these three photos. The one with the sweater shows the color most accurately.
