I am a passenger,
and I ride, and I ride
...
I see the stars come out of the sky
Yeah, they're bright in a hollow sky
Anyone remembers this Iggy Pop classic? 😄

Did anyone tell you
that in each subway train
there is one special seat
with a small hole in it
and underneath the seat
is a tank of piranha-fish
which have not been fed
for quite some time.
The fish become quite agitated
by the shoogling of the train
and jump up through the seat.
The resulting skeletons
of unlucky passengers
turn an honest penny
for the transport executive,
hanging far and wide
in medical schools.

Headed East out of Sunbury, this special passenger train is enroute to Snydertown along the Shamokin Creek.
This right of way was built by the Shamokin, Sunbury & Lewisburg Railroad (SS&L) chartered in 1882. The SS&L was completed the following year from Shamokin to West Milton and acquired by the Philadelphia & Reading Railroad, popularly known simply as "The Reading Railroad."
The train operated with an EMD SW1500 at each end. This end's loco is No. 1942. Built in 1972, this is one of six such 1500 horsepower locos rostered by the North Shore Railroad.
The baggage car was once part of the Conrail OCS roster as No. 23.

In the late 19th century the Midland Railway challenged the orthodoxy of locomotive design with its small engine policy. Rather than building larger and larger engines, the Midland deliberately designed and built large numbers of small engines, mostly for freight work. The policy favoured simplicity and the 0-6-0 wheelbase.
Fast forward to the 1950s and the British Transport Commission's modernisation programme was clearly influenced by the Midland's small engine policy. While type 3 (1500hp-2000hp) and type 4 (2000hp-3000hp) locomotives were ordered, over 1,000 smaller locomotives were built, including the locomotives seen here.
