55022 looks the business on the ex virgin stock except for the inter city coach as it snakes along the Cumbrian Coast at Parton early on Bank Holiday Monday 30 August with Compass Tours 1Z44 04.28 Crewe - Newcastle Central "Western and Eastern Coastal Express" It was gin clear light and the Isle of Man can be clearly seen top right.

A very quick dash down to Parton shore after work today. As usual though, the sun dipped behind a cloud on the horizon at the last minute. Still some good colour in the sky though which was a bonus.

Dolly Parton’s career and her bus (seen in the photo above) have taken her all across the U.S. Now, the entertainment legend’s home-on-wheels is parked at Dollywood, and you can take a look inside. Dolly’s bus is parked in front of Chasing Rainbows museum in Adventures in Imagination portion of the park. Designed by Dolly’s longtime road manager, bus driver and friend Don Warden, and his wife Ann, the 1994 Prevost features hand-tooled leather from Germany on the sofa and chairs, cherry cabinets and brass fixtures. In addition to three bunks, the bus has two bathrooms and a shower. Dolly’s bedroom on the bus features three clocks--one set on Los Angeles time, one on Nashville time and the other on Dollywood time.

I took a broadly similar shot to this at Parton's Bank Yard Road recently of 37409 leading this train, the 08.42 CAR - BIF.

I wouldn't ordinarily return to a location this quickly but knowing that the DBSOs were hitting the rails this week, and that they'd be at the southern ends of each set, it was the last "hurrah" for "up" facing locos and I was short of time so needed to be reasonably close to vehicular access.

There was a fair sized gallery on Saturday morning, including one or two up the cliff from where I'd done my previous shot here.

It was nice to run in to Ian (northeastheavy60) for a brief chat.

Two for the price of one. 37403 arrives at Parton station with 2C40 06.16 Carlisle to Barrow whilst 68003 and 68017 head in the opposite direction towards the camera along the sea wall with the 2C35 05.50 Barrow to Carlisle.

Shot on Parton beach around sunset with the sea in mood.

Beautiful bloom from my Dolly Parton this year.

3J11: the 11.30 DRS RHTT service from Carlisle Kingmoor to Carlisle Kingmoor, via lines in the North West.

It was a quick turnaround at Whitehaven today. The RHTT left at 13.06, 6 minutes early and is seen heading back to Carlisle through Parton before heading down the S&C. No. 68017 "Hornet", is now at the front of the train, with no. 68001 "Evolution" at the rear.

Rest day for me on Wednesday. Unusually sun was forecast and there were two large logo 37s plying the coastal route.

I was up with the cock and headed for Parton to shoot the 05.46 BIF - CAR.

37424 was up front and I had yet to phot' it in the sun.

Here the "short set" rounds the curve on approach to the station having been photographed there by a man with a pole.

The sun died a death mid afternoon and I almost threw in the towel but hung on for 2C47 17.31 Barrow - Carlisle, glad I did as it cleared for a time as 37409+37606 thread the sea wall at Parton.

Friday 3 July 2015.

50 minutes later the sun is high enough as 37609 leads 37423 on the first northbound service again leaving Parton, 2C33 05.46 Barrow - Carlisle.

A set of shots taken from three beaches on the west coast of England on the same day.

By the time sunset was upon me I shot this on my local beach of Parton

A stretch of sand showing on Parton beach uncovered by a low tide. This stretch of sand is not often seen.

A blue hour shot.

07.22 on a fine May morning, a lovely young lady takes her dog for a walk as 156481 departs from Parton with the 05.46 Barrow - Carlisle.

*This would have looked so much better with the booked 37 traction, alas not to be!

Ah well, the tide was out anyway, so if at all possible another attempt will be made at this soon if DRS can oblige.

A series of shots taken on Parton beach at sunset just on high tide. The sea was washing over some the ancient sandstone beach.

37425 approaches Parton in a bit of squiff after a successful chase from Millom.

It looked very promising for a good sunset last night so I jumped in the car and headed down to Parton shore to grab a few shots. Unfortunately there was a bank of cloud right on the horizon which killed off the colour at the last moment. This was taken on some incredibly slippy rocks which sent me home soaked after I slipped and landed on my back in a puddle!

I’m not a great fan of Class 68’s but in the right location they just about pass!

With the waters of Tanyard Bay calm Railbus DMU set 142 054 skirts the edge of the bay as it approaches Parton with train 2C33 the 06.57 Whitehaven to Carlisle.

In previous years the summer timetable has brought one class 142 diagram to the Cumbrian Coast line but there now appears to be two diagrams since the May timetable change unless this is a result of the timetable meltdown at Northern Rail that has made the TV news in recent days.

Shortly after the previous shot, 37423 skirts along the Cumbrian Coast at Parton with 2C41 Barrow to Carlisle. Again, we got slightly lucky with the light again.

A shot I have been wanting for a while with the added bonus of 37424 (AKA 37558) 'Avro Vulcan XH558' leading. Apparently, the loco failed the previous day and 424 was then assigned duties for the day but ripped for the following days operations. The 2C33 Barrow-in-Furness to Carlisle working is seen at Parton. 6/6/2018

Taken at Parton, Whitehaven, Cumbria.
