In previous years the summer timetable has brought one class 142 diagram to the Cumbrian Coast line but there now appears to be two diagrams since the May timetable change unless this is a result of the timetable meltdown at Northern Rail that has made the TV news in recent days.

Monday 14 May 2018.
I went to Parton yesterday when there was beautiful weather: a blue sky and no wind or rain. However, the RHTT was cancelled; due to a problem with the RHTT.
Today, the weather had changed; with cloud and a hint of rain in the air. This also affected the view to the Scottish coast in the background, which was barely discernible today.
I was therefore pleased to get this shot of 3J11: the 11.30 DRS RHTT service from Carlisle Kingmoor to Carlisle Kingmoor, via lines in the North West. In this view, the train is heading down to Whitehaven, where it will reverse before heading back towards Carlisle to go down the S&C. Classmate no. 68017 "Hornet", is at the rear of the train.

And suddenly the place gets busy, with photographers hanging out of bushes and climbing walls - including my old mate Derek Phillips, who will be well known to steam photographers in their "bus pass" years.
The object of this excitement was "kettle" 46100 "Royal Scot", running some 11 minutes early with train 1Z62, the 15.30 Carlisle - Crewe "Lakelander".
I had earlier told people at St Bees she would pass at 17.30, but she was early through there and I hope they didn't miss it. Otherwise my name will be mud in St Bees!
