Well, in the end it was a good effort.
The last throw of the dice from Northern for the loco-hauled coastal services saw the great and the good of the photting and vidding world heading west for a last stab at the 37s.
Fortunately I was "rest" and decided to head for Parton's Bank Yard Road for the outbound working. I knew that 409 & 425 were in the frame for these workings but didn't know which would lead out so was pleased to see Lord Hinton on point as the train rounded Parton Sea Brows in the distance.
Although a great event to see off the last three and a half years, with all monies heading to charities, two things could have improved the day; a large logo tractor at each end and some sun.

What a difference a day makes. The sea had calmed down and the temperature was up 10 deg C from the night before so no hat and coat and I was sweating. Thats Cumbrian weather for you.
Having shot Thursday's 2C47 at Nethertown I set off for home.
Encountering next to no traffic on the journey I thought it might be possible to get another bite of the cherry further north.
I just had time to get to Parton's Bank Yard Road, grab ladder and camera and leg it through the tunnel before 37405 rounded Redness Point in the distance.
Legged it up the ladder and this is the result.
Was there anything better at the time?

Yesterday was not a day for macro but it was a day for sunset and waves at Parton beach. The clouds had moved by this late stage but the colour of light made up for it
After a rather uneventful sunset on Parton beach I was heading home when the ksy to North just went some amazing colours in the dusk light.
