This is a photo of my wife (left) and her best friend at a class reunion. The crime of which I speak is detailed in the story of "How I met my Wife". Since it's a long story, I'll shorten it here.
These two mischievious gals decided to call me one night anonymously and torment me. I was "available" and ate up this type of harrassment, even though I had no idea who I was talking to. They only said they knew me from high school (I was 21 at the time). They repeated the double-teamed harrassment a few more times over the next few months, then only one girl called after that. The calls remained anonymous until one day I received a perfumed note in the mail with a phone number on it. I thought it was her way to open communications to a 2-way arrangement, but she was stunned that I now had her number. The culprit - best friend must have thought our relationship was moving entirely too slowly.
Jump ahead 38 years - we are about to celebrate our 36th anniversary.

Cmdr. Louis Lewandowski, an orthopedic trauma surgeon assigned to Expeditionary Medical Facility (EMF) Kilo, operates with the Honduran orthopedic resident team on a trauma patient in the operating room at Hospital Escuela, Tegucigalpa, Honduras, Sep. 17, 2024. In collaboration with joint forces and the partner nation, EMF Kilo conducted its first orthopedic surgical mission alongside Hospital Escuela medical staff treating and performing surgical procedures on patients with oncologic or orthopedic traumatic injuries. As part of Tesco’s SUCB money to Keep Wales Tidy, officers delivered an environmental improvement project in each county. We partnered Tesco Maesteg with Friends of Maesteg Welfare Park (FoMWP) to construct 2 bird hide/screens. 4 days’ preparation were made involving the FoMWP, Valleys to Coast and the landowners: Bridgend County Borough Council’s Parks Department. The design of the screens were made by KWT’s Bridgend Officer and built by Wood B. This organisation works with adults with learning difficulties to learn and develop carpentry skills.
Eighteen people from the various bodies including the Friends of Porthcawl Wilderness, helped out to build two screens over 4 days giving up 130 hours.
9 pupils from Nantyffylon Primary School came out to make fatballs and birdfeeders to engage them in the project.
The bird screens are a highly visual resource for the local community and schools, which encourage people to appreciate local birdlife. The project has also helped to raise awareness of both the FoMWP and Keep Wales Tidy’s wider activities.
This is a famous statue of Walt and Mickey that sits at the end of Main Street right in front of Sleeping Beauty's castle.
