The "Partners" sculpture was created by Disney Legend Blaine Gibson. Blaine is most well known for creating all of the Presidents (prior to President Obama) for the Hall of Presidents attraction. You cannnot spend much time at Disney World without seeing characters that Blaine helped create ranging from the Pirates of the Caribbean to his later works with the figures for the American Adventure in Epcot. He retired after a long career at Disney in 1983, but was occasionally given special projects to work on afterward.
Marty Sklar approached Blaine about creating the statue of Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse for Disneyland. Blaine was in his mid-seventies at the time, but still was willing to take on the task. The finished product was placed in Disneyland on November 18, 1993 exactly 65 years after the launch of "Steamboat Willie." Additional copies of "Partners" were ultimately placed in each of the Disney Theme Parks around the world, with the Disney World version arriving in 1995.

My mom always said, birds are partners for life... I think that's why I I enjoy watching them.. especially when they're in a pair. I always think they've been together for ages, or maybe a new couple, I don't know... I admire how protective they are of their nests, and eggs... and how they'll fend off attackers together, in turns... I watched a pair of magpies fight of cats, and foxes to protect their babies last year from my window... though unsuccessful with the foxes, it was still endearing to watch... I felt bad for their babies, even though magpies are "evil" and tend to attack other birds nests... nature.
Anyway... today is my last day in London... and with Steve.
We had a busy day, after a walk in the park we were out and about all day in town. We ate at two of my favourite restaurants today too... My Old Dutch in Chelsea for breakfast... and then Maggie Jones in Kensington for dinner... if you don't know about them, look them up, they are bomb ;) I don't like eating out twice in one day... but hey, it was my last day in London for awhile, so I went out in style I suppose...
And of course, on the drive home... I got emo again... it's not so much the leaving, and knowing that I can come back... it's the missing Steve part that hurts the most... and especially after having woken up beside him for the past 21 days...
It's been an absolutely lovely 21 days though... and we all have to get back to the daily grind sometime. So back to work Monday... and also... back to university... again... for a master's course this time...
And it starts...

Venessa & Melissa. Tom took their pic at a club in Hollywood. When I was helping Tom move I saw this (with the frame) and said something like, "Oh, wow, that is nice!"; so he gave it to me. Venessa saw it the other day & wants a copy. Tom dated both of 'em.

This photo was taken in the wee hours of the morning as the crowd filed out after Extra Magic Hours. Security was gracious enough to let me set up and take this wonderful photo, which remains my favorite after many of thousands of shutter presses.
There is certainly something magical about being one of the last people remaining in the park after a long day of fun and enchantment.

Great Holm, Milton Keynes, 25 July 2009
Bucks Fire have a number of cars in the 'white' (non-emergency) fleet, many of which are unlettered and carry removable blue lights for use by senior officers. Seen in the car park of Great Holm fire station, this Peugeot is marked with the brigade crest but has no light so its role is unknown.
I know this is the exact same shot I've already posted but daytime and there's nothing special about it other than the fact that it is one of my favorite spots in the parks to just sit and watch. Here I am, sitting in my car, waiting to head into class and listening to Disney parks music and all I want to do is grab a bench in the hub.

Lomography 100ISO Color Positive Chrome Film
Developed and Scanned at Costco
We went to the park with a bunch of film. Of course like last time I brought the FT, I couldn't get halfway through my roll. Some of the things I shot on this roll I also shot with the color negative film as well on the F100. Here's one of the shots I took that does not have a companion.
This shot is straight out of the camera. The film has a slight greenish tone to it due to being cross processed in C41 chemicals rather than the E6 slide positive chemicals it was designed for.

The Jay Heritage Center is proud to be a partner of the Lower Hudson Partnership for Regional Invasive Species Management. LHPRISM strives to address invasive species issues through collaboration and discourse with other like minded organizations. LHPRISM aims to protect the rich biodiversity of the region by identifying conservation areas. Yesterday we hosted the annual meeting and exchanged findings from the calendar year of workshops, training sessions, "Block Buster" surveys and more. Learn more about the LHPRISM here lhprism.org/
Collectively, the LHPRISM focuses on likely areas of introduction of invasive species, both terrestrial and aquatic as well as methods of early detection and response. Over 50 partners, which include Scenic Hudson, The Native Plant Center, The Westchester Land Trust and JHC to name, are dedicated to reaching out to new audiences, to increase public awareness and participation.
What do we do? We engage volunteers in data collecting, restoration and management projects. We all gather and share information about invasive species to support each other and to reach key people such as teachers, Master Gardeners, and landscape professionals. Our emphasis is on education, prevention, early detection and rapid response.
During an all day session on September 30 held at our site, partners broke out into groups to strategize about ways to improve public outreach, add observations to our mapping database and expand awareness about the impacts of invasive species like Japanese knotweed, hydrilla and EAB. The afternoon session focused on Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) and expanding stewardship areas.
JHC is grateful to Con Edison for its support and facilitating educational gatherings like these at our site.
