The "Partners" sculpture was created by Disney Legend Blaine Gibson. Blaine is most well known for creating all of the Presidents (prior to President Obama) for the Hall of Presidents attraction. You cannnot spend much time at Disney World without seeing characters that Blaine helped create ranging from the Pirates of the Caribbean to his later works with the figures for the American Adventure in Epcot. He retired after a long career at Disney in 1983, but was occasionally given special projects to work on afterward.
Marty Sklar approached Blaine about creating the statue of Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse for Disneyland. Blaine was in his mid-seventies at the time, but still was willing to take on the task. The finished product was placed in Disneyland on November 18, 1993 exactly 65 years after the launch of "Steamboat Willie." Additional copies of "Partners" were ultimately placed in each of the Disney Theme Parks around the world, with the Disney World version arriving in 1995.

Due to circumstances my partner and I are having to car share meaning that I have to be in place around her work in school. When the weather improved on Monday I was able to go out and do these afternoon freights in Worcestershire. When parking up I checked on RTT to find this was running early and had passed Stoke Works at 13.39. I had enough time to be in place for this very early passing train. It pulled into Abbotswood to wait time allowing 6V92 to get ahead of it.
It used to be possible to get beyond a wooden fence here onto the embankment before a wire fence was installed. Ever increasing vegetation growth looks to be putting paid to future shots here.

I was walking alongside the back road near work and this police cruiser pulled up alongside me.
I smiled and waved, they stopped to chat.
The male officer did the talking, "What were you taking a picture of?"
"Worm tracks on that fallen tree limb," I replied.
"Worm tracks?"
"Yes."
"What else do you take pictures of?"
"Well, when you turn the corner here, there are often dragonflies hovering over the drainage ditch on the other side of that fence ... hopefully they'll be there today." (they weren't)
"You from around here?," he asked as he looked back over his shoulder down the rough pitted and potholed asphalt road. His partner leaned nearer so she could get a closer look at me.
"I work right over there in the old red building, I can't stay inside there all day, so I get out and take a walk at lunchbreak," I answered.
"Take my picture?" he asked suddenly, surprisingly.
With a big smile, I raised my camera ... and they both ducked down when they realised I was going to do just that! We all three laughed afterward, I guess they didn't think I'd really do it!!! Later he did say something about it would be OK if I DELETEd it .... hhhmmmm ......
They told me to have a good day and be careful walking about around here ... I wished the same for them ... and they slowly turned the corner and drove away ... probably more than a bit bemused at the woman walking alongside half-abandoned roadsides in noontime's heat, looking up into trees, peering into ditches, camera in hand.

WHITE BEACH, Okinawa, Japan (Nov 15, 2013) USS Ashland (LSD-48) arrives at White Beach Naval Facility port to load U.S. Marines and Sailors, along with equipment and supplies needed to participate in Operation Damayan. Operation Damayan is a humanitarian mission being conducted in the Republic of the Philippines to assist victims of Super Typhoon Haiyan/Yolanda. The Navy constantly trains with our Pacific partners including the Armed Forces of the Philippines for such occasions. Because of the long-standing partnership between the two nations, the U.S., working with the Philippine government, is able to rapidly respond with critically needed capabilities and supplies in times of crisis.
