VAZIANI TRAINING AREA, Georgia — A U.S. Guardsmen from Hotel company, 1st Battalion, 121st (Airborne) Long Range Surveillance, 48th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, Georgia Army National Guard prepares to land at the drop zone, Vaziani Training Area, Georgia, Aug. 4, 2017. The unit and soldiers from the Special Operations Force, Georgia, conduct an aerial insertion at the drop zone. The DOT Urban Art Program partnered with the International Studio & Curatorial Program (ISCP) and Gabriela Galvan present "Aquatic Random" a site-responsive, abstract sculpture of St. George Ferry Terminal in Staten Island. The sculpture is composed of found boat parts used for navigation, such as steering wheels and buoys, highlighting the surrounding waterways and ferry terminal activity.
Throughout Galvan's work, the artist explores how sculpture relates to the ideas of time and transformation. Her site-specific work is informed by her surroundings as she observes everyday objects and materials. She creates work that generates dialogue among the art, site and spectators.

Grandmaster Carlson was wonderful enough to have the girls to his Master's school for a more intense session of Tae Kwan Do training.
I watched these two wolves look for dinner one evening near the Blacktail Ponds area of Yellowstone National Park. One of them has a pretty bad case of mange and it was very sad to see it have difficulty even with simple tasks. The healthy wolf would occasionally show its affection with some licks and patiently waited for the unhealthy one whenever it struggled.
Winter in Yellowstone can be pretty harsh.
The ladies had a wonderful time visiting the beautiful United States Institute of Peace, and had a great conversation about Gender and Peace.
More than 1,500 Special Olympics athletes, 100 Unified Partners and 620 coaches from across Minnesota competed at the 2017 Summer Games, held June 22-24. One of seven annual Special Olympics Minnesota (SOMN) state competitions, Summer Games showcased athletes, with and without intellectual disabilities, in athletics (track and field), volleyball, gymnastics and tennis. Summer Games also featured the Final Leg, Healthy Athletes programs and screenings as well as a celebration ceremony featuring FOX 9 Chief Meteorologist Ian Leonard, a gauntlet formed with men and women in uniform and live music by Some Silly Cover Band at Eastview High School.
