Late Summer light, Bee Balm gone to seed and purple Fall asters just peeking over the fence - parting glances of Summer. It's Friday, my friends, Happy Fence Friday and happy weekend! :)
The helpers on the rear of UBHF keep things moving for the last mile before coming to a stop at Thurmont. In addition to providing some extra power, the helpers will make switching out the NVR lumber yard just ahead a bit easier.
After 7 years and over 5000 uploads, it is time to say goodbye to my time in Cheyenne, Wyoming. It is only fitting that my last upload is one depicting crepuscular rays at sunset.
Having lived in southern Arizona, I know that there will be more opportunity to capture unique and beautiful moments that the sky will offer. So stay tuned in the weeks ahead!

Waiting for the rain to leave and the fog to lift wasn't without its reward in the end. Much to our delight, a rainbow made its appearance just before dusk.
I always carry my little Sony around even if I’m out with the big camera. It usually stays in the pocket but sometimes when I can’t be bothered to get the big camera out, or it’s got the wrong lens on I take the odd snap with thew Sony, then I forget all about them. A few weeks later I decide to download what’s ever on the card and sometimes I get a nice surprise of forgotten photographs. Todays photo I did take with something similar with the big camera but earlier, just as I was heading back the scene looked worth another snap so out came the Sony, to be honest I like this better.

Thank you very much for your comments and faves, regretfully, I am finding it increasingly difficult to reply to your comments, because of my very limited time on the internet, due to constant power interruptions in South Africa. I do read and appreciate every one of them! Thanks again!!

The last shot I got on my trip to the DPR, knowing how remote this obscure operation is and how I may never make it out there again Id say ts worth the trip as a railfan bucket list item of sorts.
I thought it would be a little too much just to zoom in on the patch of light on the sea so I used the grasses to almost filter the light and still keep the perspective of the sand dunes.

This image is a parting shot (for the time being) from my visit to Guelph, Ontario, Canada. It is of an array of New England Asters, found while wandering through a farm collective. They're just Asters. But still...
One species that I can always count on for being present on Silver Glen when we visit for our annual Fools Camp is the Cormorant. They are a pleasure to watch, yet always provide a pain in our backside as we both attempt to fish the same waters at the same time.
In this shot, one was so busy preening that it had no idea that I had gotten so close…the instant when the flight instinct kicks in!
Taken on Silver Glen/Lake George Florida on 13 October, 2023.

Upper Yosemite Falls spring moonbow reflection as moonlight breaks through parting clouds.
My winter-spring Yosemite dates are up on my Web site (link on my About page).
Morning clouds lifting and letting some sun shine on us for a while. But, it was time to break camp, load the boats, and head back down the lake and homeward.
From a trip to Wasdale yesterday where the weather was passing through quickly This was as thing cleared again after another shower passed through.
I was out for a walk at our local lagoon the other day. I enjoyed the walk, but there weren't very many subjects to photograph. I was just about ready to leave with my SD card nearly empty when this Finch landed right in front of me on some dried twigs. I got off a couple of quick snaps before it took off and came home with a neat environmental portrait for my effort.
The Parting Glass is an old Irish song about a man who is having his last drink at his pub. He is saying goodbye to his friends but the song doesn't tell us why he is having "to go." One can speculate from the words that perhaps he is dying. It is a sad song, one of lonliness and isolation and yet somewhat of a celebration of a man's frienships and good memories. I'm submitting it for the Jan 25, 2021 Macro Monday's theme of "Lockdown Song". By the way, it's played in the key of Am.
