Yumi's Specialized (that she got with her housing deposit refund from Santa Cruz). Iwai Cycle Sport, Kurume.
"Slept only 4 hours before Yumi called to say she was coming over. We went to the library and Yumi decided that she wanted to take a trip. We decided to get some money and go shopping for mama-charis. I got lucky and bought a used 3-speed chari (in good shape) from this great bike shop that Yumi had found. [Cycleland] The owner was worried that my current bike was about to break [the frame was badly bent] and we talked with another guy who works there who is going to America soon to study — everybody was really nice and they were interested in our story about riding to Osaka, which is why I think they gave us a break. We went back to Iwai and Yumi ended up getting a really nice Specialized Hardrock for just under 50000 yen. She’s really excited about the trip now and says she will get a part-time job to make more money for the trip."

47/366 of my 2012 365 Project. I was driving to my part time job and saw this at 6:30 AM, a little hazy/foggy and sort of melancholy. I turned around and went back. Tried several framing options and likes this one best.

"Cafe Del Sol is a German system catering chain of Gastro & Soul GmbH based in Hildesheim. Cafe Del Sol wants to offer Mediterranean atmosphere with a restaurant and a bar. The menu offers pizza, pasta and schnitzel, but also salads and snacks for the small appetite. The range of beverages includes soft drinks, beer, coffee and tea as well as cocktails and wines.
The company serves (car) mobile customers on the outskirts of the city with individual freestanding, "greenfield" buildings (standardised new buildings). This puts it in competition with other providers of system catering. The respective building of the café is a single-storey standardised building with a lot of wood in the American colonial style, a flat gabled roof as well as roofed and heatable surrounding verandas and terraces. The available space comprises about 400 to 500 jobs each, about half of them outside, the staff about fifty full-time and part-time jobs.
A breakfast buffet and Sunday brunch are offered at a flat rate. Each store has the same standardized offer; prices may vary from region to region."

•I was also the Financial Counselor and know how insurance can be when people are hanging on for their lives, all they want is one more day, most of us should feel blessed. Then to get insurance cut for existing conditions. ObamaCare addresses that.

•I was hospitalized last Nov with possible heart attack. They put IV in my arm in ER on Thursday night. They took my blood daily in my other arm, so I was poked again. Sat morning I had a stress test where someone finally used the IV. That afternoon the nurse came in to clean the IV and said, it's leaking, we need to put a new one in. I ""refused"". That is why healthcare is so damn expensive. ObamaCare addresses that.
•On Sunday the CNA came in to do a diabetes test. I am not diabetic. I refused because that is another reason healthcare is so expensive, unnecessary tests. The normal person would go along with it. ObamaCare addresses that.
•From Thurs evening till Sunday, I say a doctor 1x, when I addressed this in my follow-up visit with my doctor, he just shrugged his shoulders. This whole hospital experience is call Fraud, Waste, Abuse to our healthcare system. By the way it was patterned after Massachusets watch with Gov. Romney. ObamaCare addresses that.
•I got laid off, went from $21an hour to $9.70 unemployment. Took me 6 months to find a job but I took a job for $14.00 with benefits. Michelle Obama presented a human being who cares and Bill Clinton explained why we need Pres Obama to be re-elected. I pray he gets re-elected."
Another day at work....those who have followed my photostream in the past, may know that I have a fairly easy part time job that I work a few times a month. My co-worker and I were going to watch a movie, but it was a bit too busy for that today, but not too busy to get in a few games of Freecell!
What it's like to be a teacher.
By: Natasha T.
The first person I interviewed was Ms. Dudra. Fondly called "mom" by some students, she teaches cooking and family management . Here's how she answered her questions;
1)Why did you choose to become a teacher?
Many reasons. I thought that it would be a rewarding job and summers off seemed like a nice bonus.
2)Is the job how you expected it to be?
The job was mostly what I expected it to be. I didn't expect that I wouldn't have money left to spend on the students. I also didn't expect that I would have less money for the students now than I had back then (1982).
3)How has the school changed since you first started teaching?
Not much. The biggest change was the MYP program. The students seem quite similar to when I first started.
4)What is one thing you'd do to improve King George?
Compared to other schools we have a lot. I would definitely want longer classes to make more food. Many recipes take more than an hour to make, so two hour classes would be a great improvement.
5)What advice would you pass on to your students?
Eat more plants, eat less meat. Avoid processed foods. That will keep you healthy and happy.
6)Why did you choose to work at King George?
I lived only five minutes away.
7)What were some difficulties for you when you first started teaching?
When it was only a part time job, there was a lot of prep involved. I had four different classes (family management and three levels of cooking) and each one was doing different things.
8)What are some difficulties for you now?
Having enough energy. There's lots of work and I get very tired at the end of the day.
9)On a scale from one to ten (ten being the highest) how do you rate yourself as a teacher?
She declined to answer (but I give her a 9.5).
10)What do you think of your students?
I love my students. They are the best part of the job and I enjoy seeing them learn.
A day where Kaden works his 1st part time job as hair/wig model....
He kinda of love this colour though...
"All these wigs are just normal standard wig shapes, I styled them properly for the shoot*
I was showing a friend this crochet scarf, which I meant to look like a peppermint stick, not long after I finished it. As she wrapped it around her neck a few times (don't worry, it's been washed since) I gasped in surprise and horror, and exclaimed, "Oh no, it looks like a long piece of bacon!"
That's right, what I tried to make look like candy turned into a pork product! Not exactly what I intended. After a moment of dissapointment, though, I couldn't help but fall on the floor laughing. Not only was the scarf funny, but I could see some sort of ironic mirror before me.
How many times have we tried something, only to have it turn out not quite the way we expected it to? Ten years ago, I would have never pictured myself living in Texas, working two part time jobs. I was going to save the world! First it was anthropology, then archaeology, then environmental biology (ya, I was major hopping in college.) None of those things ever really seemend the right fit. Finally, when I just let go and lived life the way it took me, did I settle into where I am now. The funny thing is, I'm enjoying it. I love both my jobs. I get to knit for a living! How can you beat that?
So, hey, if your peppermint scarf turnes into bacon, don't worry. It may not be exactly what you expected, but at least it's good for a laugh, right?

This friendly little fellow love a nice piece of cake. His favourite is lemon drizzle cake but can be quite partial to a carrot cake every now and again. He has a part time job at Sainsburys answering the phone after hours but his chatter is pretty much indecipherable to anyone over 12" tall.

I'm a little behind on posting my photos-of-the-day for two reasons.
One is that I started a new part-time job in the photography studio of a friend - it's only two days a week and something I'm doing alongside my usual web development work, but it's a lot of fun. However, it's also tiring and somehow has really cut into my online time.
The second reason is that poor Peaches is sick again. She hasn't used the kitty litter for anything other than pee in about a week. I took her to the vet on Tuesday because she was acting weird too, very clingy, and the vet gave her laxatives. It hasn't helped though, and I'm bringing her in tomorrow, possibly for more drastic measures like an enema. We're not sure what caused this - though the vet has diagnosed her with pica (she eats stuff she's not supposed to, like kitty litter and plastic, and I'm pretty sure it's not a dietary thing as she and Misty eat the exact same stuff, and Misty doesn't do it) and it's possible she ate something that she can't pass. It's also possible this is related to worms again, which she had badly as a kitten. They might be back and causing havoc here...I hope to know more tomorrow. Poor Peaches. She was positively shaking in my arms on Tuesday at the vets. :(

After two months of back and forth, I *finally* got my contract from the European Union! It will keep me employed, together with my other part time job, full time through mid June. I also get a trip to Belgium out of it! Of course, this means the house isn't going to be vacuumed for the next 10 weeks or so... Han Solo is, as usual, super excited. As is Darth Vader Potato Head. Like my Facebook page or follow me on Twitter at jcravens42 for updates on this project.
in all my glory, no facial retouching..you can see every pore and scar.
It's weird to not get many views and stuff anymore...but I guess I deserve it. I need to come back with a bang, seriously sometime soon.
If anybody looks at this that didn't see my previous upload I had a few questions.
I posted this on my facebook ( www.facebook.com/dylanmurphyphotography ) but I'll post it here too.
Looks like I'll have extra time on my hands since my part time job hours have been getting cut. Need to figure out some business things that have been long overdue...like figuring out some basic packages and prices for more traditional shoots. What do you all think is the most important thing when booking a photographer? Quality? Their style? Price? I'm sure it's a combination of these things...But can the average person differentiate these things when comparing or are most people likely to skip to price and how many images they are getting?
and do people prefer a-la-carte or package options for ordering prints?..No, I am not giving away high res images on cd's with releases, I'm just not going there haha. I have good reasons..unless it's for a commercial project, then I do that sometimes. Low res I am willing though so people have them for facebook and whatnot, but not for printing.
I don't get very many people contacting me for things, but I know people think I do good stuff and I've been in local shows and stuff. I feel like maybe since I don't show prices for anything that people just pass me up...or that a lot of my portfolio isn't more traditional? I come up in the top search results in my area for my website ( www.dylanmurphy.net )
Anyone got any ideas or input?
I would love to do more commercial/editorial stuff but there's just no market in my immediate area for that kind of stuff from what I've seen anyway.

Rita Pavone (1945) was one of the biggest teenage stars in Europe during the 1960s, and one of the few Italian pop stars to gain a foothold in the American market. Pavone also starred in several 'Musicarellos'.
Rita Pavone was born in Turin, Italy in 1945. Mark Deming at AllMusic: “Her father, who worked at a Fiat auto plant, was a big fan of American musical stars, particularly Al Jolson, Judy Garland, and Gene Kelly, and young Rita shared his tastes, often singing along with his records and taking singing lessons when she wasn't busy with school or her part-time job ironing shirts. In 1959, Rita made her public debut as a singer, impersonating Al Jolson in a children's talent contest; by this time, rock & roll had made its way to the continent, and she became an immediate fan of the new teenage sounds. In 1960, Pavone landed her first professional gig, performing for soldiers at Italian NATO bases, and after initial attempts to score a record deal or nightclub engagement proved fruitless, Pavone got her big break in the fall of 1962." She participated in the first Festa degli Sconosciuti (Festival of the Unknowns), a song competition for amateur artists. She won the contest, which was organised by singer and record producer Teddy Reno. The two fell in love. Rita was 17 and Teddy was 19 years her senior already married, and father of a baby boy. However, they would always stay together. Her first single La partita di Pallone (The Ball Game) was an immediate smash. It sold over one million copies and was awarded a gold disc. Her album debut, simply titled Rita Pavone, made her a national star, and international attention soon followed. Her recording of Cuore (Heart) also sold a million copies in 1963, spending nine weeks at number one in Italy. In the summer of 1964, she had chart success in the United States with Remember Me, backed with Just Once More. Pavone sang at Carnegie Hall in New York City, and between 1964 and 1970, she was a frequent guest at the Ed Sullivan Show, the most popular variety show on American television. Pavone was also very successful in Europe. In the UK, RCA Victor issued two of her singles in quick succession in 1966 and 1967. Both were hits, Heart peaking at #27 and You Only You peaking at #21 in the UK Singles Chart. During this same period, she appeared at the London Palladium. Spain would prove to be one of her biggest markets. In this country, she scored a string of hits, both with ballads and rock songs and became a teen idol. Pavone recorded a total of thirteen albums. She mainly recorded for RCA until 1968, then she signed for a brief period with Ricordi which launched her vanity label, RitaLand. Eventually, she returned to the label that had launched her, recording three more albums with RCA.
In Italy, Rita Pavone also worked as an actress, and during the 1960s, she starred in six films. The first was the French comedy Clémentine Chérie (Pierre Chevalier, 1963), featuring France Anglade. The others were the Musicarellos (Italian teen musicals of the 1950s and 1960s) Rita, la figlia Americana/Rita, the American daughter (Piero Vivarelli, 1965) with Totò, Rita la zanzara/Rita the Mosquito (Lina Wertmüller, 1966) with Giancarlo Giannini, Non stuzzicate la zanzara/Don't Sting the Mosquito (Lina Wertmüller, 1967) with Giulietta Masina as Rita’s mother, the musical Western Little Rita nel west/Rita of the West (Ferdinando Baldi, 1967) with Terence Hill, and La Feldmarescialla/The Crazy Kids of the War (Steno, 1968). In the two Zanzara films, directed by Lina Wertmüller, ´Little Rita´ plays a music student in love with her professor, who unknown to her is living a double life as a rock & roll singer. With Wertmüller she also made Giornalino di Gianburrasca/Gian Burrasca's Diary (1964-1965). For this TV series, she also contributed several songs. Pavone’s film career targeted a teen audience and lacked great artistic value, but today her films are cult favourites in Italy. In 1968 Pavone finally married Teddy Reno in a church in Lugano, Switzerland. This event caused a scandal because Reno was still married to his first wife, Livia Protti, and in Italy, there was no divorce law until 1970. They re-married each other in Italy in 1971. Later on, she would participate in comedy films, such as 2 sul pianerottolo/Two on the Landing (Mario Amendola, 1975). On TV, she participated in shows such as Alta Pressione (High Pressure) (1967), Stasera Rita (Tonight Rita) and the variety series Studio Uno (1968). In 1982, she appeared in Come Alice (Like Alice), which became a hit in Italian television. In the theatre, she played Maria in a celebrated production of William Shakespeare's Twelfth Night. Her songs are on many film soundtracks. The main character in the Argentine film Nueve reinas/Nine Queens (Fabián Bielinsky, 2000) tries to remember a Pavone song throughout the film. The song Il Ballo Del Mattone (The Fool's Dance) plays as the credits run. In 2006, she announced her official retirement from show business. She was a Senate candidate in the Italian general election of 2006, for the centre-right list Per l'Italia nel Mondo (For Italy in the World) led by minister Mirko Tremaglia. Rita Pavone and her husband Teddy Reno now live in Ticino, Switzerland. They have two sons, Alessandro and Giorgio, both of whom have become involved in show business themselves, Alessandro as a radio show host and Giorgio as a rock singer.

i decided that i need to keep up with my flickr. Its hard being a full time studio art student with a part time job and about a bazillion bills to pay. Im not in a photography class at the moment, but i seem to frequently find time to do photoshoots. I dont know what i would ever use them for. I think i will refer to all of my photography so far as studies of the model. One of my biggest interests in art is the direct relationship between the artist and the model. Photography is one of the last art mediums to directly rely on the model. I love that and i hate that. I want to be able to be on the same page as a model, i want to be able to convey comfort enough to shoot different, relaxed, and emotion-filled photos.
I dont know. Maybe im being all too romantic with these ideals.
