University of California, Davis Medical Center Parking Structure III. #wedesignedthis #dreyfussblackford

Suspended over the precast concrete structure, a louvered shade screen veils the building from the street and creates privacy for the adjacent patient rooms. Made of over four thousand extruded aluminum fins, each blade is rotated at a distinct angle designed to reflect light inside the structure and create a gentle textured facade above the street.

It snowed. Big fluffy flakes. Cold cold cold. It's only just beginning. I'm going to have to make a point to do all the things that I used to love in the snow... I think that will make me love it again. I just need to think like a kid again and have some fun. :)

I worked at the tea shop again most of the day, unpacking all the stuff we packed yesterday. It is really coming together nice, it's looking good :)

At Eastwood Towne Center, north of Lansing. This architectural fashion is quite common hereabouts; I've mixed feelings about it.

Westlake, Daly City, California / structure on a parking structure

This is one of the 6 parking structure on Michigan State's campus. In my opinion it is the ugliest parking structure and one of the ugliest buildings in the North Campus. I believe the MSU master plan mentioned this ramp being rebuilt with an extra level. If that happens I hope they give the structure a facade more like the Grand River Avenue ramp.

Shade Sails are a great addition to any school courtyard.

The building in the center of this photo is a new parking ramp that has only been open for about a year. In the background you can see Beaumont Tower, Spartan Stadium, and several other buildings.

This used to be the hep happenin' mall in the area. This big three-level parking structure used to be entirely necessary, and it was often hard to find parking. Then it lost a couple of anchor stores, and that lead to a loss of lots of the other stores inside, and it just sort of cascaded. It's reached that point in a mall's death spiral where it's mainly occupied by artists, people selling handmade crafts, and little dance studios, and parking is super easy to find. It's very similar to the mall out in Niagara Falls.

It's kinda depressing.

This custom structure in the City of Frisco was built to enhance the park.

Interestingly this is right across the street from the Britt-Scripps House.
