...Something

Guys, obviously I had no idea whatsoever for this theme. A dancing tree? Maybe. Maybe just very thin slices of paper twisted around... This same "thing" also served for a "Bad Hair Day" version (an outtake; I'm not sure if I will upload it).

Please don't be too hard on me ;-). HMM everybody!

Scott decided to bust out his origami paper this month and made us some beautiful trees for the holidays.

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas!

Hope everyone is doing well and staying safe.

I was using the inspiration of Simone Bramante's Plastic By The Sea photo series.

I was thinking of clear cut tree harvesting, we are recycling alot more paper. Trees absorb and store carbon dioxide. Without trees the world would drier and we would have more droughts. Our forests have declined by 32%.

My idea was to make a paper tree with sheets of paper floating from the branches.

it's about 14 feet wide by 12 feet high and sticks out about 5 feet! HUGE!

detail of the paper tree... it's made entirely of paper... and only paper! Well and glue too. :)

Constructed of paper tubes of different diameter and lengths. It's a site specific installation and took me 2 months of 8 hour days!!!

TEA TIME

Once upon a "tea time" I met a very rare friend on flickr!

Although she no longer posts, our relationship has grown through snail mail and occasional telephone chats.

I often set up still life's around my home with treasures

reminiscent of our unique friendship!

I'm looking forward to the day we actually sit down for tea

together, in person!

Happy Miniature Sunday, Origami Spring Edition :-)

It's time to return to my Origami Green Roofs theme! And here is our beautiful Canada Life Building a la Beaux-Arts we have in our Toy-ronto :-) I have captured it last spring from the rooftop of Toronto City Hall and kept it for a special occasion. So I thought that green origami trees will work quite well for this beautiful historic building and surely they are! :-)

Our origami Toy-ronto was featured at Ciy Hall ! (see Doors Open Toronto facebook page here and here )

More of toy-some tilt-shift fun is coming - stay tuned / bientot a l'ecran ;-)

On my way to work each morning I kept seeing a herd of elk feeding it this grove of paper trees. So one morning I had my Nikon P&S with me and decided they needed to be photographed. They were some distance off the highway so I was not able to get up close and personal with them. Wishing I would have had my larger Nikon with the tele on board. Oh well, this one will have to due for now. But trust me, one day I will shoot them right. :-) These elk were only a few short miles out of town in between Middle Ridge and Peterson"s Butte area.

Samples of my paper art. My collection of paper crafts. I always have a conflict: craft or art. I decided not to resolve the conflict and just happily live with it. There are tutorials in my website ( www.carlosNmolina.com) for a lot of these projects, if interested.
