The journal cover is made with "recycled" paper towels originally used to wipe up messes. The paper towels are painted, stamped, and fused to stiff interfacing, then machine-stitched.

The Folded Paper Project requires me to
1) Take a new photograph ever day
2) Use only torn, cut or folded printer paper
3) Use only household light sources
4) Apply identical in-app adjustments to each photo.
This Ritual Laboratory was about transforming recycled paper into treasures with Anthroplogie’s Kayte Terry, by making pennant flag banners and paper flowers.

I've officially started university. Today we had a photography challenge to take self-portraits. Normally I'm fine with self-portraits... in fact I have done quite a few. However the settings for this were different than I am used to, plus I was with two boys I had never met before. So I was a little subdued.
The first idea I had was to make some paper dolls and drape them in front of me. They are supposed to represent the many aspects of my personality. I made these paper dolls to use in the self portrait but ended up taking these photos. The out of focus dolls show, in my opinion, the aspects of myself that I have yet to learn, or that I won't admit to myself... and so they're hazy. I love these photos personally, but I didn't use them in the end because I think the tutors were looking for a literal self-portrait as opposed to a figurative one.
Vintage paper dolls and magazines photos plasticized, double tape, fabricated pins.
The idea is the different magazines photo as interchangeable landscape, actually it´s like having 16 brooches at the end...I may use this resource in case I have some delay problem at the end of the year :P

We had a long-haired princess moment after family dinner a few weeks ago. It was a big hit across the entire neighborhood.
Here is a sampling of Paper Gage Micrometers I have picked-up over the years. First vertical row starting from left: 1) Brown and Sharpe No. 230 the oldest in my collection, would fit handily in a vest pocket (early 1900s). 2) Brown and Sharpe No. 230 A much later model with micro tensioning (the smaller dial mechanism on the right to keep from tightening the micrometer too much on softer paper.) 3) Moore and Wright No. 50 Made in Sheffield, England, it has micro tensioning, and a clamp ring for the barrel so the micrometer can be removed from the paper without affecting the measurement. Top right-hand row: 4) L. S. Starrett No. 223M Metric Paper Gage Micrometer with micro tensioning, and clamp ring for the barrel. Note the finger ring used with the middle finger for greater ease in handling. 5) L. S. Starrett No. 223RL Standard paper gage with micro tensioning, and clamp ring, an earlier version of the next two micrometers. 6) L. S. Starrett No. 223RL Standard Paper Gage Micrometer with micro tensioning, and clamp ring. Probably the newest of my collection as it is larger and clunkier than the other Starretts. 7) L. S. Starrett No. 223RL Standard Paper Gage Micrometer with micro tensioning, and clamp ring. The most used model in my shop. Note the more slender finger ring, more like the oldest one at the top of this row. It probably dates from the 1940s or 50s. I use these micrometers to measure the thickness of paper to be printed, and tympans and packing in order to get the press set-up as accurately as possible, and to reduce the makeready time on the press. Most presses have about 1 mm of packing, which in thousandths is 39.37 of an inch. Makeready of course is the process of adding or subtracting packing in order to get the optimum impression. When one starts with a standard thickness of tympan and packing it is much easier to calculate whether altering packing or adjusting the press is the best method of setting up the press for printing.
Since I was a child I just love cutting paper snowflakes and the best seem to be the easiest quarter fold...well the other thing that I love to do is to felt them into wool and create nice felted winter landscape mats with them! If you use wild silk paper, it is easy and fun to felt!
These tissue paper flowers are made from red tissue paper and repurposed sewing patterns. Each flower is about 4" across and the tan pipe cleaner stem is about 8" long with a button threaded on for fun. Each flower is unique and the set of 4 will be randomly chosen from those I have on hand. Make great gift toppers!
